  • Full-time The Sales and Convention Manager oversees sales and conference operations for Ober Gatlinburg, with responsibility for group sales, conventions, corporate events, weddings, private events, and other client-driven event opportunities.
This role leads the Group Sales team, supports the overall Sales department, and ensures sold events are planned, communicated, and delivered with professionalism and operational excellence. The position works closely with Operations, Food & Beverage, Marketing, and other departments to deliver excellent customer service, meet client needs, and execute events that align with Ober's standards and revenue goals. Key Responsibilities
  • Generate new group sales and event business through prospecting, networking, relationship building, site tours, and client presentations.
  • Manage the full event sales process from inquiry and proposal through contract, planning, execution, and post-event follow-up.
  • Coordinate corporate events, weddings, holiday parties, FAM trips, motor coach groups, student groups, conventions, and other client-booked events sold through the Sales department.
  • Develop, review, and manage proposals, pricing, contracts, event packages, timelines, and planning details.
  • Work closely with Operations, Food & Beverage, Marketing, Guest Services, Attractions, Maintenance, and other departments to ensure seamless event delivery.
  • Works closely with the Marketing Director to coordinate signage and promotional needs for scheduled groups and sold events.
  • Recognize that Ober-produced events, including Oktoberfest, Crank Up, Festivals, Spring Fling, and similar seasonal programming, report under the Marketing Director. Sales remains responsible for overseeing and delivering events sold through the Sales department, with support from the Events team as needed.
  • Attend 3-4 travel shows throughout the year, along with tourism events and community networking functions, to promote Ober, generate leads, and build sales opportunities.
  • Track sales goals, revenue targets, group bookings, event performance, lead activity, and post-event results.
  • Provide exceptional communication and service before, during, and after events while maintaining strong relationships with clients, vendors, community partners, and internal teams.
  • Communicate events clearly across departments so all teams are informed, prepared, and accountable.
Qualifications and Experience 2-5+ years of experience in hospitality sales, event management, tourism, attractions, hotel sales, conference services, or marketing. Strong sales, business development, project management, and organizational skills, with a proven record of meeting revenue goals. Ability to manage multiple events, deadlines, client needs, and internal priorities simultaneously. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a polished, client-focused approach. Experience working with budgets, contracts, proposals, timelines, event details, and planning documents preferred. Proficiency with CRM systems, Microsoft Office, Outlook, and event or sales tracking systems preferred. Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak event periods as business and event schedules require.

$45,000.00
