Job Summary The Training and Events Coordinator performs highly complex (senior-level) training and development work. Plans, develops, and coordinates specialized training and educational programming and events. Performs work planning, organizing, coordinating, promoting, and conducting training opportunities throughout the agency for both internal and external customers. Uses a variety of methods to achieve engagement and learning outcomes. Works in collaboration with agency staff to both support existing training activities and events, as well as to create new ones. Is responsible for ensuring consistency and quality of agency training materials and publications. Works under limited supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Essential Tasks Develop or review curricula, course outlines, instructional methods, training aids, presentations, and manuals Deliver training in a classroom, distance learning environment, and in hybrid or public settings. Maintain agency-wide training and educational event records and calendars. Coordinate training events and logistics for agency-wide efforts. Serve as a professional resource for employees and managers regarding agency training programs. Evaluates and analyzes training needs and training effectiveness. Performs related work as assigned. Attends work regularly and in accordance with agency policies and procedures. Comply with all applicable agency policies and procedures, including safety and standards of conduct Qualifications Veterans, Reservist or Guardsmen with an MOS or additional duties that fall in the fields for related fields pertaining to the minimum experience requirements may meet the minimum qualifications for this position and are highly encouraged to apply. Minimum Qualifications Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in education, library and information science, records management, pedagogy, or related field.
Substitution:
one year of developing/ presenting training will substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis. Three years' experience in delivering training. Two years' experience developing curricula or educational programming. Preferred Qualifications Experience developing and delivering training for a non-profit or state agency. Experience in event planning. Experience in promoting events and/or training opportunities. Experience tracking participation and outcome data. Experience in reviewing and editing instructional materials. Experience delivering training online or in hybrid settings. Experience with database and presentation software. Knowledge Skills and Abilities Knowledge of training and development procedures and techniques, Knowledge of learning management and learning content management systems Knowledge of group processes, group dynamics, and interpersonal relations. Knowledge of instructional and curriculum design. Skill in oral and written communication, in instructing others Skill in using a computer and applicable software. Skill in facilitating workshops. Skill in developing promotional and marketing materials to support training and educational event engagement. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to formulate learning objectives and to develop training objectives Ability to assess the effectiveness of training, and to assess training needs. Environmental/Physical Conditions Normal office work environment and may have exposure to dust and environmental allergens consistent with normal business activities and human contact. Mostly sedentary in nature but may involve moving; standing; pulling and pushing kneeling, stooping, and bending; performing tasks requiring fine motor skill and coordination to safely move items weighing up to 25 pounds. Must be able to work extended periods at a computer. May require working extended hours and some evenings and weekends as needed. Normal cognitive abilities including the ability to learn, recall and apply certain practices and policies and interpret data. Travel, some overnight, will be required to conduct training, speak publicly, and attend meetings. Other Requirements College transcript required if claiming college credit Writing sample (preferably training related) must be submitted at the time of application. Reporting Relationships Has no supervisory responsibility. Reports to the Assistant State Librarian.
