Since 1975, Maymont has been maintained and operated by the nonprofit Maymont Foundation, committed to creating experiencers that delight, educate, and inspire its guests. The Maymont Foundation is seeking a full-time Lead Private Events Associate to work with Maymont's Events team to create a positive and memorable experience for private rentals and community events. The ideal candidate will have proven excellent customer service skills and the drive to ensure an enjoyable environment for all rental clients and Maymont guests. The Lead Private Events Associate must have availability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays. This position reports to the Event Operations Manager.
Essential Functions:
Serve as on-site lead during weddings, conferences, and weekend events to ensure smooth execution of setup and breakdown. Provide on-site support to part-time staff, wedding/corporate clients, caterers, contracted entertainment, and internal departments for a smooth execution. Act as primary point of contact for part-time staff and clients, addressing issues or last-minute changes such as callouts, weather disruptions, or emergencies. Assist with post-event reporting, feedback collection, and administrative tasks including client tours, rental layouts, Master Calendar management, venue and equipment tracking, and setup coordination. Build relationships with clients, vendors and team members to support event success Provide backup support for event sales and rental operations Monitor assigned areas for safety, cleanliness, and compliance with Maymont policies and procedures. Collaborate with Security, Event Operations, and Guest Experience leadership to promptly address and resolve guest concerns Assist with pre-event preparation and post-event breakdown as assigned
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED Customer service in events, hospitality, or simil guest-facing environment Team leadership/management preferred but not required
Competencies:
Proven customer service skills Ability to professionally and courteously communicate during fast-paced and high-demand situations Demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate within and across teams Ability to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, special event and holidays, in addition to weekday availability Basic computer competency required (MS Office, web-based software) Ability to pass a background check Valid driver's license required with reliable transportation to/from
Maymont Physical Demands:
Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and talking for extended periods Frequent climbing, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 50lbs. Ability to work inside and outside in all weather conditions Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
