Job Description

Overview Our storied history (dating back to the early 1970s) is grounded in a desire to nourish our community through quality, organic, wholesome foods. We do the research, select the very best organic, local, non-GMO products we can find and use them to make the very best delicious food and drinks so that you can eat and drink with ease and trust. The Front of House (FOH) Clerk at The Natural Grocery Company playsa key role in creating a welcoming and efficient customer experience at our prepared foods counters. This position is responsible for greeting customers, taking and fulfilling food orders, handling transactions, maintaining cleanliness and presentation of the service area, and ensuring food displays are fresh, attractive, and fully stocked. The FOH Clerk works closely with kitchen staff and follows food safety and sanitation standards at all times. Responsibilities Provide friendly and prompt customer service at the prepared foods counter. Assist customers with orders, questions, and product recommendations. Package and label food items accurately and attractively. Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system, handle cash and credit card transactions. Restock grab-and-go displays, hot and cold bars, and beverage stations as needed. Monitor product freshness and remove outdated or low-quality items. Maintain a clean and sanitary work area, including counters, utensils, and service equipment. Follow proper food handling and hygiene practices in accordance with health department regulations. Communicatee with kitchen staff to ensure accurate and timely order fulfillment. Assist with opening and closing duties, including setting up or breaking down displays and equipment. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous customer service or food service experience preferred but not required. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask efficiently. Basic math skills for handling transactions and measurements. Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs. Reliable, punctual, and flexible with availability. Work Environment - Fast-paced environment with exposure to coolers, freezers, and dry storage. -
Physical:
Ability to withstand continuous standing, walking, sitting, reaching and kneeling as well as ability to carry items up to 50 lbs. Other physical environments may include working in tight spaces and exposure to heat and cold. Shifts and Availability Flexible availability, must be open to working any shifts between Monday and Sunday, morning or evenings, weekends and holidays.
