Job Description
Job Summary The clerk provides the best shopping experience possible for our customers through the customer service, instocks and presentation of the Deli, Frozen and Meat departments, or any other area they are assigned. This will be accomplished through a genuine greeting, friendly interaction, and education of our customers. The clerk will also ensure product is available for the customer through quickly working product out to the salesfloor following product rotation guidelines. The clerk may also be trained and work in multiple areas of the store to ensure the customer is having the best experience possible. Primary Responsibilities Genuine greeting of all customers Maintaining good rapport with all coworkers, working towards a common goal of excellent customer service Educate customers on Grocery Outlet's unique shopping environment Participate in store promotions to build customer loyalty Maintain accurate pricing on all product in work area Work product to the floor in a timely manner Ensure the product is stocked following the FIFO best practice Ensure no expired product is ever on display, report close dated merchandise to lead or management Maintain merchandise presentation standards of department Maintain food safety standards throughout the department Routine cleaning of display cases and backroom Maintain a clean work environment, one free of distractions from the customer experience Assist with cashiering, carry outs, cart runs or other customer service related tasks Any other tasks assigned by store management upon request Clerk Duties Report to work in a fit condition for scheduled shifts on time Showcase the Grocery Outlet brand through proper presentation of company provided uniform, badges and following grooming guidelines Keep a flexible schedule, able to work in the range from 10-40 hours based upon business needs. Able to work overtime or be on-call as needed Learn the Grocery Outlet model, and be a champion of that model to help customers learn how to save with us Diffuse upsetting customer situations, and turn them into a win-win for the customer and Grocery Outlet Prioritize multiple given priorities, ensuring the best in customer experience while completing tasks Thrive in a team environment, working with co-workers on providing the best in customer experience, along with the best integrity of the department Showing eagerness to learn more, other areas of the store to cross train to help in times of need Physical Requirements Routine twisting at the waist, of wrists and neck to interact with customers and perform job duties Regular lifting of product upwards of 50lbs below, equal to and above waist Able to work for periods of time in walk in coolers, 30-40 degrees or freezers, sub 0 degrees Ability to communicate with customers, vendors and other employees in person or via telephone device Ability to read, decipher and communicate often small and fine print Ability to use handheld electronic device to perform various tasks related to job responsibilities Reporting This position reports directly to the designated Fresh Manager, Store Owners and indirectly to any assigned
