The House Assistant is a part-time, hourly role based at our Truckee, California, property. This person is an essential part of the guest experience at Guesthouse, working quietly and expertly behind the scenes to ensure the home feels effortless, cared for, and ready for whatever the day brings. The Role The House Assistant is a part-time, hourly role based at our Truckee, California, property. This person is an essential part of the guest experience at Guesthouse, working quietly and expertly behind the scenes to ensure the home feels effortless, cared for, and ready for whatever the day brings. You'll work closely with our Operations Manager and House Chef, supporting everything from post-meal kitchen clean-up to turn-down service, household upkeep, and light errands. The ideal candidate takes genuine pride in the details, is comfortable working both independently and as part of a small team, and thrives in a hospitality setting where no two days are alike. What you will do Support meal service by managing kitchen clean-up, dishwashing, and post-meal reset of dining and service areas Provide turn-down service as requested by guests, including refreshing towels, linens, and bed arrangements Perform general household upkeep, including vacuuming, sweeping, and maintaining the overall cleanliness and comfort of the property Manage laundry for kitchen linens and ensure clean stock is consistently available and organized Care for indoor plants and outdoor living spaces, including clearing and covering outdoor furniture and removing snow from balconies and patios as needed Assist with light errands such as picking up locally placed chef orders, fresh flowers, and last-minute supplies Maintain the fireplace and firewood storage, ensuring both are clean, stocked, and ready to set the mood for guests Communicate proactively with the Operations Manager regarding supply needs, property conditions, or guest-related observations Lend a hand wherever needed to ensure every guest's stay runs seamlessly from start to finish What we need from you Prior experience in housekeeping, hospitality, estate management, or a similar support role preferred Strong attention to detail and a high standard for cleanliness and presentation Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, particularly during peak guest seasons Comfortable working independently and managing time effectively with minimal supervision Warm, professional demeanor with a guest-first mindset Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred; ability to run local errands a plus Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks throughout a shift Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs (linens, supply boxes, outdoor furniture covers, etc.) Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions, including snow removal in the winter months What you will get from us Competitive salary: $20/hour - $24/hour and opportunity for equity in a rapidly growing hospitality startup through shared options• Opportunity to work in a cross-cutting role, interacting with lots of different parts of the business Growth opportunities that come from working at an innovative and growing hospitality business Opportunity to work in amazing locations around the world as we grow Robust benefit offering We are an equal-opportunity employer.
