Back of House Team Member — A'a Roots (Maui) About A'a Roots A'a Roots is one of Maui's only fully vegan restaurants, known for fresh, colorful, plant‑based food and a welcoming community vibe. We serve locals who visit daily and visitors discovering us for the first time. Our Back of House team keeps everything running smoothly by preparing high‑quality food with consistency, care, and aloha. Position Overview The Back of House Team Member is responsible for preparing vegan menu items, assembling bowls and dishes during service, and maintaining a clean, organized kitchen environment. This role includes line cooking, food prep, smoothies and juices, grab‑and‑go production, and occasional baking. You'll work closely with the FOH team to ensure orders are accurate, timely, and beautifully presented.

Compensation Training Pay:

$18/hour

Starting Pay:

$20/hour + tips Key Responsibilities Prepare and assemble acai bowls, salads, wraps, sandwiches, smoothies, and juices Complete daily prep work including soups, sauces, chopped produce, and grab‑and‑go items for the front fridge Maintain consistency in portioning, presentation, and recipe execution Follow all vegan food‑handling standards and maintain a clean, organized prep station Support the line during busy service periods Bake simple items on occasion (e.g., cookies) Wash dishes as needed to support the team Clean and reset the kitchen station at the end of each shift Communicate clearly with FOH regarding order timing, modifications, and allergies Uphold A'a Roots' commitment to fresh, plant‑based food and a positive work environment What We're Looking For Experience with food prep or line cooking (vegan experience is a plus but not required) Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced kitchen Strong attention to detail and consistency Good communication and teamwork skills Reliable, punctual, and able to follow recipes accurately Comfortable multitasking and staying organized during rushes Positive attitude and willingness to learn Why Work at A'a Roots Join a supportive, community‑focused team Work with fresh, plant‑based ingredients every day Be part of one of Maui's only vegan restaurants Opportunities to grow your kitchen skills in a positive environment
