ROLE OVERVIEW FOH
Team Members are the face of FARE. You're the first and last impression our guests have — and at FARE, that matters. This role spans every part of the guest-facing experience: welcoming guests, running the service line, managing the register, and keeping our dining room guest-ready throughout the shift. We move fast, we work clean, and we take hospitality seriously. If you take pride in doing the small things right, this role is for you.

Competitive hourly pay commensurate with experience Tips + Bonus (Each review you gain for the store = $5 directly to you!) Base Wage $13/hour + tips and bonus opportunity. Most Front of House Team Members earn approximately $19-$23/hour in total compensation. Actual earnings vary based on hours worked, tips, and performance. FARE ensures all employees earn at least the applicable minimum wage in accordance with state and local law. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Greet and welcome every guest with warmth and urgency — set the tone from the door Guide guests through the menu, answer questions about ingredients and preparation, and make recommendations confidently Execute orders accurately and efficiently on the service line, following FARE's plating standards and portion specs Operate the POS system — handle cash and card transactions accurately and with speed Execute barista role - completing all drink beverage orders to recipe Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked service line and dining room throughout the shift Monitor dining room cleanliness — wipe tables, restock condiments, and ensure guest areas are guest-ready at all times Support flow during peak service periods — communicate with teammates and leadership to keep the line moving Follow all food safety and allergen protocols — accuracy on allergen inquiries is non-negotiable Restock front-of-house supplies and complete opening and closing side work as assigned Arrive on time and ready to work Uphold FARE's standards for food quality, hospitality, and team culture
QUALIFICATIONS
- Required Valid Illinois Food Handler Certificate (ANSI-CFP approved) — must be obtained within 30 days of hire if not already held; proof must be kept on-site for CDPH inspection Solid understanding of food safety principles: temperature control, cross-contamination, and allergen awareness Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while standing for extended periods (up to 8+ hours) Strong communication skills and a genuine hospitality mindset Ability to handle cash and operate a POS system accurately Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and handle repetitive physical tasks Must be at least 16 years of age Preferred Prior experience in a fast-casual, quick service, or hospitality environment Familiarity with scratch-made or nutrition-forward menus Experience with POS systems (Toast preferred)
