About Us Bagel Hound is a fast-paced, dynamic environment where quality products and exceptional customer service are our top priorities. We value hard work, attentiveness, professionalism, and teamwork. Position Summary We are seeking a Cashier/ Sandwichmaker to join our team. In this role, you will deliver an exceptional customer experience in a high-volume, fast-paced setting. Your primary responsibilities include processing orders through our POS system, bagging bagels, making Sandwiches and efficiently handling customer transactions. A commitment to working between 6:00 AM and 3:00 PM is required. Key Responsibilities Food Preparation & Setup Prepare and organize the service area prior to opening: arrange and label bagels, pre-order items, and restock coolers with schmears, salads, and beverages. Stock and organize all retail food items and other merchandise. Set up and stock the hot and cold coffee buffet with all necessary fixings; brew coffee, replace coffee kegs and operate coffee equipment proficiently. Prepare and assemble sandwiches, ingredients, salads, and sides according to standardized recipes and customer preferences. Slice and toast bagels, meats, cheeses, and other ingredients with precision. Accurately portion and pre-prepare ingredients to ensure smooth and efficient service Ensure food quality by following FIFO protocols and maintaining accurate documentation. Customer Service Greet every customer warmly as they enter. Provide exceptional, attentive service and accurate product knowledge regarding bagels, schmears, baked goods, coffee, and beverages. Address customer inquiries, order requests, and allergy concerns with care and professionalism. Service & Execution Accurately operate the POS system for customer transactions, process credit card payments, and handle cash. Work efficiently to complete orders, including bagging and packaging items with care. Continuously identify and complete tasks that enhance the café environment (e.g., cleaning, restocking). Prepare customer orders quickly and accurately, following tickets and verbal requests. Maintain sufficient stock levels at the sandwich station and ensure backups are available in the walk-in cooler. Work efficiently under pressure, problem-solve, and improvise when necessary. Cross-Training & Team Collaboration Support additional functions during peak hours, including cashiering, sandwich making, bagel bagging, bagel baking and food preparation and dishwashing duties as required. Complete all tasks assigned by prep lists, team leads, supervisors, or managers with attention to detail and professionalism. Participate in cross-training initiatives to improve overall operational efficiency and smooth transitions between production and service. Sanitation & Workstation Maintenance Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation and service area, including tables, floors, windows, and shelves. Ensure proper storage and disposal of ingredients and supplies, and assist with dishwashing as needed. Dispose of trash and recycling appropriately while maintaining a clean and professional workspace. Problem Solving & Adaptability Proactively identify and resolve issues during service. Implement ingredient substitutions when necessary, consulting with a manager or shift lead in cases of allergy concerns.
