POSITION SUMMARY
Clean Corps Team Members will transform trash covered alleys and vacant lots into clean and neat places in designated Baltimore communities. Team members will give their vigorous energy to their home communities and other nearby communities to brighten the lives of neighbors and beautify the neighborhood. Team members will practice orderly and safe work in all weather conditions. Clean Corps Team Members will work Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 2:30 pm (35 hrs per week). Occasional weekend and evening hours may be required to support community clean-up events.
THE CLEAN CORPS PROGRAM
Civic Works' Clean Corps Program is funded by the City of Baltimore to provide high quality sanitation in the Darley Park, the Four-By-Four, and the Coldstream Homestead Montebello communities. Civic Works will operate two teams, each comprised of a Supervisor who will drive a trash collection pickup truck with team members aboard. Team members will clean all types of debris from alleys and open lots in all weather conditions under the direction of their team supervisor.
RESPONSITILITIES
Team members, along with their supervisor, will be responsible for the effectiveness of the program. Team members must take care of their own safety and the safety of their teammates. Team members must be respectful and upbeat with all community members and each other. Members may inspire community neighbors to take a stronger role in keeping their surroundings clean. Team members will pick up and load onto the team pickup truck 100% of the trash in each target area. Members will transfer trash to containers. Team members in warm weather, will maintain open spaces with grass mowing and trimming. Members will be trained in the proper use of equipment for these tasks. Team members will develop their efficiency of work methods and care for equipment and vehicles to increase their own value to their future employers. Team members will take satisfaction in removing trash that spoils the appearance of the neighborhoods, shelters rats and sheds pollution.
REQUIRED ABILITIES
Ability to work closely with teammates under the direction of a team supervisor. Strong communication skills. Ability to work 7 hours per day, 35 hours a week in all kinds of weather. Willingness to have a criminal background check. Civic Works does hire past offenders. Willingness to follow safe and vigorous work practices including lifting 40 pounds weight, alone, and greater weight together with others. Ability, with training, to mow and trim open lots. Ability to remain cheerful while doing a dirty job.
