Food Preparation Associate Reports To:
Store Manager Position Summary The Sandwich Artist is responsible for preparing and assembling What's The Dill® signature pickle sandwiches and menu items according to company recipes and quality standards. This role requires attention to detail, food safety knowledge, speed, consistency, and a commitment to providing an exceptional customer experience. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesFood Preparation & Assembly Prepare and assemble pickle sandwiches, salads, wraps, and other menu items according to established recipes and portion standards. Ensure all ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and prepared for service. Slice, portion, and organize meats, cheeses, vegetables, and toppings as needed. Maintain product consistency and presentation standards for every order. Verify order accuracy before serving customers or releasing orders for delivery. Food Safety & Sanitation Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations. Maintain clean and sanitized food preparation stations throughout the shift. Properly label, rotate, and store food products using FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures. Monitor food quality and report any concerns to management immediately. Kitchen Operations Assist with opening and closing kitchen duties. Refill ingredients, condiments, and prep items as needed throughout the shift. Keep prep tables, refrigerators, and storage areas organized and stocked. Assist with inventory counts and product rotation when assigned. Customer Service Provide friendly and professional service to customers. Answer menu questions and assist customers with product selections when needed. Work efficiently with team members to ensure timely order completion. Cleaning & Maintenance Wash dishes, utensils, cutting boards, and food preparation equipment. Sweep and mop kitchen floors as required. Empty trash and maintain cleanliness in all food preparation areas. Assist with daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning tasks. Qualifications Ability to work in a fast-paced food service environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality. Ability to follow recipes and preparation procedures accurately. Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented. Previous restaurant, deli, food preparation, or sandwich-making experience preferred but not required. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds. Ability to bend, reach, carry, and perform repetitive food preparation tasks. Performance Expectations Maintain food quality and presentation standards. Prepare orders accurately and efficiently. Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures. Contribute to a clean, organized, and positive work environment. Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and a customer-first attitude.
