Beachfront Crew Lead (Seasonal)

This isn't a back-of-house kitchen job tucked away in a corner; this is a front-facing leadership role where you manage the stand, lead a small team, and ensure every guest has the perfect beach meal. If you are 18+, responsible, and want to spend your summer at the lakeshore instead of in a windowless kitchen, this is your spot.

What You'll Be Doing Operational Ownership:

You will be responsible for the "Opening" or "Closing" of the stand, including cash drawer reconciliation and securing the building.

Team Leadership:

You'll mentor and direct 1-2 student team members per shift, ensuring tasks are completed and our "phone-free" policy is respected.

Simplified Food Prep:

You'll be responsible for high-quality assembly of gourmet hot dogs, pre-prepped BBQ, and ice cream treats-no professional "chef" experience required, just speed and attention to detail.

Customer Experience:

You are the "vibes manager." You'll handle the lunchtime rush with a smile and keep the line moving efficiently. The "Lake Gulls"

Standard:

Keeping the stand, the prep area, and the immediate beach house vicinity "inspection-ready" at all times. We are looking for someone who is reliable, shows up on time•every time and committed to finishing the entire season (Sept. 7) You can talk to anyone, handle a "hangry" tourist with grace, and keep your team motivated when it's 90 degrees out. You must be 18 or older. You don't need a decade of experience, but you do need the maturity to handle keys and cash.

Pay:

$16.75•$20.00 per hour Expected hours: 16.0•40.0 per week Application Question(s): Speed is critical when the beach is busy. On a scale of 1-10, how comfortable are you multi-tasking (e.g., taking an order while prep-cooking) to keep ticket times under 5 minutes?" You will be working with and leading a crew of high school students. How would you handle a situation where a younger staff member is using their phone behind the counter during a rush?" The summer season in Manistee is short and intense. Are you available to work through Labor Day Monday (September 7th) without any planned absences in August?"
