Job Description

Job Description Candidates MUST be available between 8am-9pm and weekends to be considered. This role is offering 24+ hours per week. The Meat & Seafood Clerk is responsible for providing exceptional customer service, maintaining high standards of sanitation and safety, and preparing, stocking, and selling a variety of meat and seafood products. This is not an official job description, but represents major responsibilities a new hire can expect to perform. You could expect the position of meat clerk to include the following
DUTIES:
Provide friendly and courteous service to all customers. Engage in suggestive selling and offer product sampling to customers. Provide customers with proper cooking instructions. Cook, fry, and steam seafood products for customers upon request. Wrap, label, and price meat and seafood products accurately. Prepare product for the service meat and seafood cases (including preparing party trays and selected seafood). Handle live seafood safely and properly. Stock, straighten, and rotate product in display cases, coolers, and freezers. Read, understand, and maintain shelf tags. Regular, reliable attendance is an essential function of this job. Receive product shipments from the warehouse. Check and maintain proper temperature controls for coolers, freezers, and the cutting room. Maintain the cleanliness of the work area, equipment, meat/seafood cases, and the backroom following company safety and sanitation guidelines. Follow all company safety guidelines when operating equipment. At closing, pull product from the service cases for proper and safe storage. Perform other duties as assigned at the discretion of store management.
TRAINING
Training will be provided at store level.
PHYSCIAL DEMANDS
Bending Stooping Work in cold wet environment Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds Working on feet entire shift (4-8 hours) Additional Requirements -
Internal Candidates:
Store/Facility Teammates:
minimum of six months employment with Schnucks preferred.
Store Support Center Teammates:
minimum of one year employment with Schnucks preferred. Must be in good standing (not on a performance improvement plan or active discipline).
