MEAT CLERK
Reports to:
Meat Department Manager FLSA Status:
Non-Exempt We are looking for a reliable Meat Clerk to join our team and help maintain a clean, well-organized, and fully stocked meat department. In this role, you will be responsible for cutting, packaging, and labeling meat products, ensuring they meet quality and safety standards. You will assist customers with their meat selections, provide product recommendations, and maintain a clean and sanitary workspace. As a key member of our team, you will help ensure that our customers have a positive shopping experience by offering great service and ensuring the department is always ready for the next day. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare and cut meat Package and label meat Stock and organize products Assist customers with product selection Maintain cleanliness and sanitation Monitor product freshness Assist with inventory management Ensure compliance with safety standards Assist with special displays and promotions Perform all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

Must be 18 years or older due to age-related work restrictions Basic knowledge of meat cuts, food safety and sanitation standards Prior experience in meat cutting, food handling or retail is a plus Ability to operate meat cutting and packaging equipment safely and efficiently Strong customer service skills and ability to interact with customers in a friendly, professional manner Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions and store polices Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is typically performed in a grocery store environment with frequent exposure to refrigerated areas and freezers Exposure to sharp equipment requiring high attention to safety Fast-paced environment especially during peak shopping hours Must be available to work a flexible schedule including a variety of shifts, days, evenings, nights, and weekends including overtime, as needed As a condition of employment, you are required to obtain a valid Food Handler's Safety Card within thirty (30) days of your start date. You will be responsible for completing any necessary training and certification requirements to obtain this card. Continued employment in this position is contingent upon maintaining this certification in good standing.
