Posting Opens June 30, 2026 Posting Closes July 10, 2026 The Akron Board of Education announces an anticipated opening for a Part Time School Climate Team Member, Job Code 309, Time Schedule 380 (190 Days), part time, maximum of 24 hours/week, hourly rate: $19.17. This position requires availability during regular daytime hours. Collective Bargaining Unit none. This is a School Employees Retirement System position.

Description:
An employee in this position exercises a high level of judgment and tact in working with staff, students, and visitors in Akron Public School buildings or other assigned areas. This person is responsible for implementing positive programming in accordance with School Climate initiatives as well as school safety and security duties.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Completion of a High School Diploma or GED
Satisfactory
BCI & FBI
criminal background check done per Ohio Revised Code
1-3 years of experience working collaboratively in a youth-based and team-oriented environment
A high degree of physical stamina to be capable of performing the physical demands of the job; frequent requirement to climb, walk, etc.
CPI trained or willingness to be trained within 12 months of hire date

Position Description:
Facilitates and may supervise students in refocusing and restoring their attention to classroom, school and district rules
Interacts with building personnel and students to ensure students successfully transition students from alternative programs into new building and/or classroom environment
Facilitates and supervises positive participation opportunities for students in the building within the course of the school day
Assists in monitoring student behavior to support a positive educational opportunity at a universal level
Respects and corrects students through preventative, proactive, dignified management techniques
Attends meetings, trainings and in-services as scheduled
Keeps accurate and timely reports and documents
Assists students in returning to their regular instructional program
Demonstrates a strong desire to serve the school and community
Assists in creating and building restorative intervention (Peace Circles) for staff and students
Manage relationships with students through Restorative interventions and programming
Through coaching and modeling, supports students and school staff in building their capacity to implement and carry out Restorative interventions
Assists and supports the administration and staff in the organization of Restorative intervention and positive behavior initiatives and projects
Support the development of safe youth-centered spaces for all students and staff either virtually or face-to-face
Facilitate student leadership and/or student programing
Maintains a level of authority when interacting with students
