Aerotek is a hiring Food Service Associates in Oakland, PA! $18/HR Weekly Pay! Job Description This role offers an opportunity to join a healthcare-based food service team in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. As a Food Service Associate, you prepare, serve, and distribute food while working across various areas such as tray line, dish room, cafeteria, and storeroom. You interact daily with a diverse clientele, build a broad set of food service skills, and contribute to a high standard of cleanliness and safety. This casual position operates primarily on day shifts and has the potential to convert to a full-time or part-time permanent role. Responsibilities Prepare, portion, and assemble food items according to established standards and safety guidelines. Serve and distribute food to customers, patients, and staff in a courteous, efficient, and timely manner. Work on the tray line to assemble meal trays accurately based on specific orders or dietary requirements. Support cafeteria operations, including setting up service lines, restocking items, and maintaining a clean, organized service area. Perform dish room duties such as washing, rinsing, and sanitizing dishes, utensils, trays, and kitchen equipment. Handle utility and sanitation tasks, including mopping, sweeping, waste removal, and general housekeeping in food service areas. Assist as a cashier by operating the point-of-sale system, handling cash and electronic payments, and providing friendly customer service. Serve as a dipper or server on the line, ensuring appropriate portion control and attractive presentation of food. Essential Skills Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to interact professionally with a diverse clientele. Excellent attention to detail to ensure accurate meal preparation, tray assembly, and cash handling. Solid service knowledge and a commitment to delivering a positive customer experience. Effective communication skills for understanding instructions and working with team members. Good organizational skills to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Ability to follow written and oral instructions consistently and accurately. Basic reading, writing, and communication skills sufficient for daily job duties. Physical stamina to perform demanding tasks such as standing for long periods, lifting, bending, and frequent movement. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and support colleagues as needed. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior food service experience, particularly in healthcare or hospitality settings, is preferred. Familiarity with food safety practices, including proper sanitation, cleaning, and food handling procedures. Experience with general labor tasks such as mopping, sweeping, and housekeeping in a food service environment. Comfort working with tray line operations and back-of-house food service processes. Work Environment This position is based within hospital food service operations across multiple healthcare facilities. You primarily work in back-of-house areas rather than direct patient-facing spaces, focusing on kitchen, tray line, dish room, cafeteria support, and storeroom functions. The environment is fast-paced and requires frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting, as well as regular use of dishwashing equipment, cleaning tools, and food service equipment. Shifts run during the day, typically from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with weekend work as needed on a rotating basis (for example, two weekends on and one weekend off). The role involves adherence to strict food safety and sanitation standards, including regular mopping, sweeping, and sanitizing of work areas, and requires appropriate food service attire consistent with a healthcare kitchen setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pittsburgh, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
