Donations Ambassador Job Description Reports To:
ReStore Manager/ReStore Assistant Manager Position Summary :
Procuring and processing of both corporate and private donations are some of the key success factors at the ReStore. Accordingly, the Donation Ambassador's primary responsibilities will be scheduling, picking up, delivering to Restore, and processing these donated items. In some cases, they will be assisted by volunteers or other staff members. Secondary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: 1) pricing the processed items 2) placing items on the show floor 3) maintaining and cleaning the truck, processing workshop, and Restore tools and equipment.Primary Responsibilities:
- Schedule donation pickups - accepting only valid requests
- Drive York Habitat branded vehicles to pick up donations, warehouse, ReStore
- Load and unload donated items (unloading and cleaning truck after each day's run)
- If assistance is required to load donations, give 24-48 hrs notice, so mgmt. can schedule someone to assist.
- Communicate with ReStore mgmt. the description of scheduled donations
- Process the donations. "Processing" a donation refers to assembling, repairing, cleaning, or discarding items. The goal is to process all items by the end of each work day and move them to the show floor or storage.
- Supervise volunteers in the processing workshop, ensuring a positive and meaningful experience
- Nurture a good relationship with everyone associated with York Habitat for Humanity
- Must know and understand York Habitat's mission and be able to speak about it openly with volunteers, donors, and ReStore shoppers.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Assist with unloading dropped off donations and move to processing workshop as needed
- Assist ReStore mgmt. to place items on the show floor or mezzanine storage area
- Assist customers to unload items that are dropped off at ReStore
- Maintain a clean, organized processing workshop.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Six months of work experience
- Ability to drive a large box truck
- Valid non-CDL driver's license, maintain a good driving record
- Experience with hand and power tools to accomplish small repairs
- Must pass a Criminal background check, Sexual offender check, and Drug screen
- Must be able to work in a retail/warehouse environment
- Must be able to lift 75+ pounds
- Must be able to stand and move about a majority of your working hours
- Must be an outgoing, people person
- Position requires someone with creative, problem-solving skills
- Ability to work closely with other Habitat staff members and volunteers
- Must have a team mentality, willing to help wherever needed
- Forklift certification (optional, but a plus)
Experience:
- Box truck driving: 3 years (preferred)
License/Certification:
- Non-commercial Driver's License (Required) Shift availabilty :
- Day Shift (Required)
- Saturdays (Required)
