Job Description

The General Store Deli Retail Clerk is responsible for assisting with both deli and retail operations, ensuring high standards of food safety, quality, and customer service. This role involves helping to prepare and serve food items, maintaining inventory, stocking shelves, and assisting customers with their retail needs. The deli clerk ensures the deli and retail areas are clean, organized, and well-maintained. They work closely with the deli supervisor and store management to create a positive, efficient, and customer-focused environment.
  • Assist in daily deli operations to ensure smooth, efficient service and high sales performance.
  • Prepare, serve, package, and operate deli counters, always ensuring excellent customer service.
  • Maintain proper product storage, rotation, and inventory control to prevent spoilage and ensure product quality.
  • Assist in managing inventory levels and helping with catering orders as needed.
  • Follow store policies and procedures and ensure compliance with food safety guidelines.
  • Respond to customer inquiries, resolve complaints, and provide solutions to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure all products are properly labeled with accurate pricing and expiration dates.
  • Operate food preparation machines and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Receive, unload, and properly stock food items to maintain accurate inventory.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment to promote efficiency and safety within the deli.
  • Stock shelves, racks, and displays with products, ensuring products are neatly arranged and easily accessible to customers.
  • Monitor stock levels across store department and alert management when inventory needs replenishing.
  • Ensure the store is well-organized, tidy, and visually appealing to customers.
  • Assist with general store duties, including cashiering, greeting customers, and handling returns as necessary.
  • Help in keeping store areas clean, including sweeping, mopping, and removing trash when needed.
