Prep Crew Leader

Position Overview We are seeking an experienced and motivated Prep Crew Leader to support our paving and concrete operations. This role is critical in ensuring our asphalt and concrete crews are set up for success by preparing sites efficiently, accurately, and safely. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable both leading a crew and working alongside it in the field. Key Responsibilities Work ahead of paving and concrete crews to prepare job sites for: Asphalt paving Sidewalk installation Curb and gutter construction Operate equipment such as motor graders and other prep machinery as needed Shoot, check, and maintain grade to ensure accuracy and compliance with project specifications Coordinate and communicate with Paving and Concrete Superintendents to ensure seamless workflow Identify and resolve site issues before production begins Jump in to assist crew members with manual work—including raking, grading, and cleanup —when necessary Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and productivity Qualifications Proven experience in site prep, grading, and paving/concrete support work Demonstrated ability to operate a grader and other heavy equipment safely and effectively Strong understanding of grade reading and layout (shooting/checking grade) Leadership experience or ability to lead and motivate a crew in the field Willingness to be hands-on and work alongside the team Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail Valid driver's license What We Offer Competitive pay based on experience Opportunities for growth and advancement Steady, full-time work A team-oriented work environment Benefits package (if applicable: health, retirement, PTO, etc.) Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk intermittently for 5-10 hrs. at a time.
