The Deli Associate position at our local grocery store is a fast-paced, high-energy position. Candidates for this role should be comfortable interacting with customers, excellent teamwork skills, and have a passion for food. We are looking for people who can help us create a warm, friendly atmosphere for both our customers and employees. The successful candidate will have experience working in the food industry, and prior experience working in a grocery store or restaurant is beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities:

Prepare sandwiches, salads and other foods to order. Clean, set up, and organize food display cases and shelves. Make sandwiches and salads using the following: cheese, meats, condiments and vegetables. Use equipment such as slicers to prepare sandwiches and salads. Cook food items with various commercial cooking equipment such as a fryer, grill, and oven. Perform physically demanding tasks such as bending over to pick up boxes, moving 50lb totes and case goods. Washing pans, wares, and lugs in triple compartment sink.

Requirements:

Basic math skills (including: addition, subtraction, some simple multiplication and division, basic understanding of decimals and fractions in terms of serving sizes) Basic people and communication skills Ability to lift at least 50 pounds, frequently bend over/squat down, and stand for extended periods of time Ability to work independently (be proactive) and as a team player Must have weekend availabilities Understand proper use of break time and appropriate use of cell phone while on the clock. A successful candidate for this job should have the ability to "multi-task." Throughout the day, you will be food prepping, washing dishes, or stocking the hot/cold case, all while being on the lookout for customers. There will be times where you need to adapt to changes and prioritize different tasks.

$17.13 - $18.00 per hour
