Job Description
Esso Coffeehouse is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Coffee Roaster to help grow our expanding roasting program. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about specialty coffee, committed to quality, and interested in being part of a small, growing company where they can have a direct impact on the final product. The Coffee Roaster will be responsible for production roasting, quality control, inventory management, and supporting the continued development of our coffee offerings. Responsibilities Roast coffee according to established profiles and production schedules Monitor roast quality and maintain consistency across batches Conduct cuppings and quality control evaluations Package, label, and organize roasted coffee inventory Manage green coffee inventory and assist with ordering Maintain roasting equipment and ensure a clean, organized workspace Support wholesale and retail coffee operations as needed Qualifications Experience roasting coffee preferred, but not required for the right candidate Strong attention to detail and consistency Ability to follow procedures and maintain accurate records Passion for specialty coffee and continuous learning Ability to work independently and stay organized Comfortable lifting and moving coffee bags weighing up to 70 pounds Reliable transportation and strong attendance record Preferred Experience Specialty coffee industry experience Cupping and sensory analysis Green coffee handling and inventory management Experience operating commercial roasting equipment Knowledge of coffee origins, processing methods, and brewing techniques What We Offer Competitive pay based on experience Flexible scheduling options Hands-on involvement in building a growing roasting program Opportunities for education and professional development A collaborative and supportive work environment About Esso Coffeehouse Esso Coffeehouse is an established independent coffee company in Phoenix with a strong reputation for quality, community, and creativity.
