Job Description

Scheid Family Wines has an exciting opportunity for a Cellar Tech Level 1 to join our team at our Greenfield, CA location. Founded in Monterey County in 1972, Scheid Family Wines is one of the fastest growing wine companies in the country with extensive estate vineyard holdings and a state-of-the-art winery campus. SUMMARY:
The Cellar Tech Level 1 is responsible for performing general winery cellar tasks that support wine production, processing, shipping, and receiving and is skilled in most winery equipment. Under general supervision, responsible for use of some winemaking equipment and able to assist and train less experienced workers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Cleaning, sanitizing and sterilizing all winery equipment and facilities. Racking and pumping juice and wine; moving hoses and equipment. Perform and understand basic volume measurement and calculations. Operate and care for moderately complex equipment. Weighing out/performing chemical additions to juice, must and wine. Pump overs and punch downs. Completing and turning all work orders accurately and on time. Shipping and receiving tanker trucks. Safe operation of a forklift to move and stack barrels. Will provide assistance and training to less experienced workers. Ability to trouble shoot problems and solve cellar issues. Follow safety operating procedures, support safety programs to ensure personal safety and the safety of others. Perform other duties as assign by Cellar Leads. Follows all GMPs related to BRC and ensures work area meets food safety standards.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent At least 3 years of wine production and processing experience Experience in all aspects of crush and cellar work
REQUIRED SKILLS
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand instructions in English Ability to multi-task, work independently and with a team in a fast-paced environment with emphasis on quality Must be available to work flexible schedules and overtime as require, especially during harvest Demonstrated reliability and punctuality
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Standing, sitting, walking in the following settings: laboratory, office, winery, bottling production area, warehouse facility. Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel or crouch. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50lbs. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
