Harvest Cellar Hand
RD Winery Napa, CA Apply Job Description:
Harvest Cellar Work with the possibility of full time employment. Looking to join a small cellar crew where you get the chance to do a variety of wine work? We are located in South Napa and for the right person, this position will keep them interested and engaged. We produce our own wine as well as operate a growing custom crush facility, which gives our team the opportunity to work with different winemakers and wine varieties. Generally, cellar staff perform routine cellar wine-making activities in accordance with standard operating procedures and safety policies to ensure maximum productivity, while maintaining high quality standards.
Primary Cellar Worker Responsibilities:
Performs all work activities in the cellar, including but not limited to running all equipment such as pumps, filters and harvest machinery as well as setting up hoses & tanks. Performs duties such as topping, racking, pump-overs and monitors fermentation Carries out proper sanitation techniques for cleaning, sanitizing and storing all winery equipment and for cellar activities Carries out specialized functions in the cellar during harvest, including but not limited to, additions to fermenting barrels and tanks and barrel filling and/or emptying. Ability to follow written and verbal instruction. Accurately completes work orders Operates machinery, drives forklift Assists with Bottling Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Expectation:
Perform basic math calculations to complete written work orders. Has a positive attitude and is able to work in a team with fellow winery employees Ability to work flexible shifts, overtime, including swing shift/ graveyard and weekends during Harvest (~July•November). Able to work split shifts. Flexible with assignments, we are a small but mighty team. Assists on the bottling line.
Physical Demands:
Rotating shifts, including graveyard and long hours may be required during grape harvest. Frequent walking, including going up and down stairs and ladders, dragging wine hoses and bending are required. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds continuously Ability to shovel 50 pounds•digging out tanks Ability to stand for extended periods of time Able to push and pull heavy equipment
Required Education:
High school or equivalent
Required Experience:
Winery Cellar:
1 year Forklift Certified or Experience a Plus Benefits for
