Job Description Help for Job Description. Opens a new window. Experienced Coffee Roaster wanted for a busy coffee roasting company located outside of Key West, Florida. The Coffee Roaster will be responsible for roasting coffee beans using non-programmable roasting equipment and following established roast profiles to produce consistent, high-quality coffee. Duties include weighing and preparing green coffee beans for roasting, loading beans into roasting equipment, monitoring roasting time, temperature, color, aroma, and sound during the roasting process, and making manual adjustments as needed. The Coffee Roaster will operate, tend, and monitor roasting equipment to ensure beans are roasted to the proper specifications. Additional duties may include cooling roasted beans, transferring roasted coffee to storage containers, inspecting finished batches for quality and consistency, recording roast information, maintaining accurate production logs, cleaning roasting equipment and work areas, and assisting with packaging or preparing roasted coffee for retail or wholesale orders. The position may also require lifting bags or containers of coffee, following food safety and workplace safety procedures, and helping maintain an organized roasting and production area. Applicants must have at least 3 years of experience with non-programmable coffee roasting equipment. A local address and transportation are required. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age due to required work hours. Work hours vary depending on season and in-store events, but will typically be Monday through Friday, between 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. with occasional weekends.
