Job Description
About the Role Prairie Fruits Farm & Creamery is seeking a motivated and organized Creamery Manager to oversee the daily operations of our farmstead creamery. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to grow into a leadership role within artisan food production. While previous dairy or creamery experience is helpful, we understand that as the only farmstead creamery in our area, many qualified candidates will be learning these specialized skills on the job. We are excited to train someone with strong work ethic, attention to detail, and enthusiasm for food production and sustainable agriculture. This is a hands-on operational role that combines team leadership, production coordination, inventory management, sanitation oversight, and product packaging. The Creamery Manager works closely with ownership, culinary staff, and front-of-house teams to help maintain the quality and reputation of Prairie Fruits Farm & Creamery's award-winning products. Key ResponsibilitiesStaff Management & Scheduling Create and manage weekly schedules for creamery staff. Help train and support new employees in creamery operations and food safety procedures. Foster a positive, collaborative team environment. Approve time-off requests and time edits in coordination with management and HR. Assist with staff development and ongoing training. Production & Operations Oversee daily creamery production to ensure consistency, cleanliness, and product quality. Assist with cheesemaking, including chèvre and other lactic-style cheeses, particularly during weekends or busy production periods. Help maintain accurate production records and batch logs. Participate directly in packaging, labeling, and preparing products for sale. Inventory & Ordering Monitor inventory levels of ingredients, packaging materials, and finished products. Help minimize waste and maintain organized storage areas. Coordinate supply ordering and communicate inventory needs to management. Cleaning & Food Safety Supervise and participate in daily cleaning and sanitation procedures. Ensure compliance with food safety standards and creamery protocols. Maintain an organized, safe, and hygienic production environment. Collaboration & Farm Sales Support Work closely with culinary and front-of-house teams to support farm dinners, events, and retail sales. Coordinate production schedules based on sales needs and seasonal demand. Assist with product tastings, educational events, and customer engagement opportunities. Product Development Support seasonal flavor development and product innovation. Participate in product testing and quality evaluations. Stay curious and engaged with artisan cheese and dairy industry trends. Qualifications We are willing to train the right candidate. Ideal applicants will have some combination of the following: Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to lead a team and communicate clearly. Interest in artisan food production, farming, or hospitality. Ability to multitask and problem solve in a fast-paced environment. Comfort working in a physical, hands-on production setting. Food production, kitchen, dairy, agricultural, or management experience is helpful but not required. Willingness to learn cheesemaking techniques and creamery operations. Working Conditions Full-time position with some flexibility required, including occasional weekends and holidays. Position requires standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working in hot, cold, and wet environments.
