Sunrise Kitchens Catering Specialist & Food Trailer Coordinator Department:
Perishables Supervised by: Director of Sunrise Kitchens, Perishable ASM and Kitchen Manager Sunrise Kitchens is the proprietary catering and food service department of Sunrise ShopRite, acting as a key competitive differentiator for the supermarket brand.
Job Summary:
The Sunrise Kitchens Catering & Food Trailer Coordinator works closely with the Director of Sunrise Kitchens and our Executive Chef to both drive the business through the acquisition of new customers, promotion of the Sunrise Kitchens brand and services, selling, and executing mobile food trailer experiences and sponsored community events. This Associate is the main point of contact for receiving, recording, and executing all catering orders placed in person, over the phone, or online. In addition, the coordinator must consistently be personable, serve as a store role model for hospitality, provide attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable service, and comfortably balance administrative execution with active, hands-on food trailer operations and short-order cooking.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
The minimum required qualifications of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Must possess a current Food Safety/ Sanitation Certification (Super SafeMark or ServSafe).
Required :
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record, comfortable operating a truck (no endorsements needed), and experience towing/parking a large food trailer. A minimum of three to five years' experience in both food production and customer service in a retail/restaurant environment is required. Culinary skills, including executing recipes of a variety of cuisines, are required. Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule to meet the needs of the position. Outstanding customer service, sales and hospitality skills when representing the Sunrise Kitchen brand with a commitment to the delivery of excellent client services and event growth. Ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships within the industry and community. Must be resourceful and a self-starter Ability to proficiently read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand the English language. Ability to perform basic math skills. Ability to work in varying temperatures and outdoor environments (including conditions common to food trailer operations). Ability to use the computer for online orders and digital event tracking. Ability to work with a wide variety of fresh, dried and/or processed products, spices and powdered substances without negative allergic consequences. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and proficient with Microsoft Office. Ability to work cooperatively with others in fast-paced kitchen and mobile environments. Ability to work all assigned work schedules—including off-site weekends and holidays for events—and comply with all time and attendance policies. Ability to stand/walk for the duration of a scheduled shift/event, which may exceed 8 hours per day. •
Essential Job Functions:
Performance of the essential functions of this position require the Associate to possess the minimum qualifications listed above. These functions include, but are not limited to, the following: Catering & Mobile Event Operations Manage the flow of catering orders—from the Customer and production side of the business. Work closely with Catering Coordinators to maintain awareness of upcoming events and coordinate accordingly. Coordinate, schedule and communicate all pick-ups and deliveries to the Client, Kitchen Managers and the Customer Service desk. Proactively request and retain ALL necessary permits related to upcoming events when necessary. Work with Executive Chef on menu planning and pricing out events Maintain communication with Kitchen Managers and Chefs regarding orders/changes or any issues in a timely manner. Maintain product knowledge (i.e. servings, amounts, cost, and complimentary items to suggest). Ability to learn and utilize Wakefern's On-Line catering tool. Safely set up, prep, operate, and break down food trailer equipment during sponsored on and off-site events. Coordinates beginning-to-end execution for major on-site and off-site events, leading to set up logistics and hands-on production. Train Associates on the standard operating procedure for each station to ensure a knowledgeable and productive team. Submits event sales data/receipts to Accounting Office after all events Conduct Ansel system inspections on the Food Trailer yearly with the proper documentation. Ensure the truck is thoroughly cleaned and fully restored with supplies on a weekly basis. Coordinate and execute the food truck's quarterly deep cleaning schedule. Food Trailer Promotion & Sales Growth Actively market, promote, and secure new sales for catering events specifically designed to utilize the mobile food trailer. Utilize social media consistently, community outreach, and local event networks to continuously grow the Sunrise Kitchens Catering and Food Trailer presence. Work closely with the Branding Coordinator to have appropriate content and materials including brochures, menus, packaging, labeling, sales displays, signage. Develop and maintain Customer relationship processes, such as phone calls and clear communication and correspondence following an event to ensure satisfaction and capture repeat bookings. Manage reminder systems related to annual milestones (e.g., corporate functions, community gatherings, seasonal events) to pitch future food trailer experiences. Kitchen Support & Short-Order Cooking Provide hands-on short-order cooking support in the store kitchens and directly on the food trailer to ensure timely food preparation during high-volume periods and events. Demonstrate proficiency in quick-service cooking techniques while maintaining high quality, presentation, and speed. Proactively coordinate with the kitchen production team to ensure accurate ingredient portions and stock levels are maintained for off-site trailer assignments. Ensure all leftover food items from events are transferred to the designated storage area for kitchen repurposing. Safety, Quality Assurance, & Compliance Serve Safe or Food Handlers Certification required. Regularly lift, pull, push and rotate equipment and merchandise that can weigh up to 40 lbs., and occasionally weighs up to 60 lbs. Maintain signage on all items to alert Customers to product choices and ingredients. Perform all duties in accordance with all Federal, State and Local regulations as they pertain to the Catering and mobile food operations (i.e. wearing approved hat or hair net, gloves, etc.). Ability to use and operate job-related machinery and equipment as required by department, i.e. slicer, scale, can opener, wrapping, rotisserie oven, fryolator, cheese grater/cutter, case cutter, and stove/oven. Be knowledgeable in the Company's HAZCOM program and perform all duties in accordance with manufacturer's label instructions for the safe and proper use of all chemical products. Dress and groom according to Company policy including uniform, name badge, and hat or hair restraint requirements. Perform all duties in accordance with Company rules, policies, safety requirements, and security standards and all Local, State and Federal health, civil code, and mobile vending regulations. Customer Service & Store Support Must greet all Customers and provide them with prompt and courteous service. Utilize Wakefern resources as necessary, taking part in all training opportunities
  • online or in-person.
Complete all applicable department training programs in a timely manner. Perform all duties in accordance with ShopRite Service Priorities (Safety, Friendliness, Presentation, and Efficiency). Maintain a clean, neat, organized and safe work environment. Observe safe methods of performing all duties. Work overtime as assigned. Must be 18 years or older to operate balers, hi-lo's, power jacks, and slicing machines. Perform other duties as assigned.
