Foley Family Wines Dundee, OR Apply Job Description:
At The Four Graces we aim to make rich, complex wines that showcase the quality of our fruit and expression of our vineyard sites. We source grapes from our four estate vineyards situated in different AVAs within the Willamette Valley. In addition to working with a diverse set of vineyard sites, The Four Graces utilizes aspects of both traditional techniques and modern technology in winemaking, offering potential for plenty of learning opportunities. We're a small, passionate, dedicated team and we strive to ensure maximum efficiency, safety, and wine quality. The harvest cellar team will be involved in a variety of cellar duties, with an opportunity to help sample in the vineyard if desired. In addition to the general cellar positions, we have a hybrid cellar and lab position open for one individual with laboratory experience. Applicants must be available without interruption from September through mid-November and willing to work overtime (early mornings, evenings, weekends, swing shifts).- In addition to the $500 sign-on bonus paid at the end of your internship, we also provide some meals!
- Job Summary Previous experience is valued, but we're willing to train the right motivated individuals.
- Winery sanitation
- Grape sampling, receiving, crushing and pressing
- Fermentation cap management
- Racking and barrel filling Lab/Cellar position applicants should have a basic understanding of wine chemistry (pH, TA, brix) as well as some education or work experience in a laboratory setting. This person will be responsible for cellar tasks, and well as:
- Daily fermentation tracking (brix and temps)
- Additions and inoculations
- Collection and analysis of tank and barrel samples
- Lab calibration and recordkeeping
- Data entry
- Maintaining a tidy and organized workspace in the lab
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Must be reliable, punctual, and engaged
- Accurately follow and complete work instructions
- The ability to work both independently and as a team member
- Understand and comply with all safety requirements
- Perform the physical labor necessary
- lift up to 50 lbs, work in various temperatures
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to read, write and speak English
- Must have a positive attitude
Experience and Qualifications:
- Basic math skills
- Willingness to work long hours including weekends and swing shifts as needed
- Previous cellar and forklift experience is a plus but not required
- Candidates must be organized and detail oriented
- Current driver's license and an acceptable driver record for our insurance carrier
- Must be 21 years of age or older
