JOB DESCRIPTION
The Wine Specialist position at Carboy Winery is the frontline of ambassadorship for the winery and brand. This is a hybrid position of hospitality and sales where the number one goal is to provide guests with an outstanding and unique winery experience. The Wine Specialist must be able to execute traditional walk-in tastings, along with private, and educational experiences. Wine Specialists must have strong wine knowledge, and a willingness to learn, and exhibit enthusiasm in sharing all information with our guests. The ideal candidate will engage, educate and entertain all wine enthusiasts, have an appreciation for the diverse wine and food culture we've established, possess a positive attitude, and is an effective team player in an often fast paced environment.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide excellent customer service with a focus on building long-term relationships and regulars. Educate guests on Carboy wines Actively promote wine sales and Wine Club memberships to create long-term relationships with our brand Monitor and uphold visual standards of all areas with guest access Understand and use the POS system to perform opening and closing procedures, perform sales functions and assemble daily deposits Restock retail wines and other items Answer phones when necessary and understand where to direct incoming calls Assist with preparation of food plates and food accompaniments Assist with washing and polishing of glassware Perform closing duties to ensure cleanliness and security Actively participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings and trainings Support onsite and offsite events as needed Support the sales and marketing staff as needed
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum High school diploma or equivalent Minimum 1 year of wine industry or hospitality experience Knowledge of general winemaking and viticulture techniques or strong willingness to learn Ability to acquire specific knowledge of The Carboy Winery portfolio Excellent communication skills Ability to lift 50 pounds Basic computer skills, including POS and reservation systems Flexible schedule to include weekends and some evenings Able to stand for long periods of time
