Job Description

Assistant Brewer ("AB") The Blue Lady Brewing Company, LLC - Bluffton, SC 29910 Summary of Position Reporting to the Head Brewer ("HB"), the AB is responsible for cellar work, cleaning, packaging support, and maintaining brewery cleanliness and organization. The majority of day-to-day responsibilities involve cleaning and sanitation, keg handling, packaging support, cellar operations, and general production assistance. This role is ideal for someone looking to begin a career in brewing production with the opportunity to learn brewery operations and eventually assist the Head Brewer on brew days as experience and knowledge develop. Primary Position-Specific Duties and Responsibilities Primary position-specific responsibilities of the AB include, but are not limited to, the following: Brewery Support. Assists the HB on brew days as training and experience progress. Learns brewing processes and procedures through hands-on experience. Cellar Operations. Assists with beer transfers, dry hopping, tank monitoring, carbonation, yeast handling, and other cellar responsibilities. Supports quality-focused practices under the direction of the HB. Cleaning & Sanitation. Performs cleaning and sanitation of fermenters, brite tanks, kegs, floors, drains, hoses, and brewery equipment. Maintains brewery cleanliness and organization to ensure a safe and efficient production environment. Follows all brewery cleaning and sanitation procedures and safety protocols. Packaging. Assists with canning, kegging, labeling, palletizing, and packaging preparation. Helps maintain packaging equipment cleanliness and operational readiness. Works with the HB to ensure packaged product quality standards are met. Receiving & Inventory. Assists with receiving raw materials and brewery supplies. Helps organize and maintain inventory storage areas. Supports periodic inventory counts and reporting as needed according to the Watterson Management ("WM") Finance Department deadlines. Workplace Safety. Ensures a safe environment to reduce the risk of injuries and accidents. Reports all accidents, illnesses, injuries, and safety hazards to the HB and WM Human Resources immediately. Supervisory Responsibility This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Work Environment This job entails frequent exposure to steam, high temperatures, humidity and extreme cold. This job operates in a production area and routinely uses brewing equipment. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, sit and stand. The employee is frequently required to reach, bend, stoop, carry, push and lift objects between 25-50 pounds. Occasionally, the employee may be required to lift objects greater than 75 pounds. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Typical days and hours of work will be Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The employee must be able to work a variety of hours to accommodate events or deadlines.
