Job Description

The Shift Manager - Slots / Manager on Duty is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Slot Department and managing all slot team members during an assigned shift. This position ensures compliance with gaming regulations, company policies, and 4-Star/4-Diamond guest service standards while acting as a key leadership presence across all casino departments during their shift.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversees all slot floor activity and ensures the smooth operation of the department during assigned shift. Maintains 4-Star/4-Diamond guest service standards and resolves guest complaints promptly and professionally. Serves as Manager on Duty (MOD) for the property and coordinates with all departments to ensure operational continuity and guest satisfaction. Ensures compliance with Title 31, internal controls, and all gaming regulations. Provides guidance to Floor Supervisors to ensure proper management of staff and guest relations. Monitors slot machine activity and ensures accurate reporting of irregularities and machine malfunctions. Reviews shift reports and communicates significant issues to Slot Management. Provides operational support and interdepartmental communication to achieve property-wide goals. Conducts performance evaluations and coaching sessions as needed to ensure team success. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Leads slot operations during assigned shift and directs all departmental team members. Recruits, trains, evaluates, and disciplines staff in accordance with departmental policies. Promotes team morale and enforces grooming, conduct, and performance standards. Maintains a professional, safe, and guest-focused working environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
In-depth knowledge of slot operations, slot floor management, auditing systems, and regulatory compliance. Familiarity with slot tracking, ticketing, and accounting systems. Strong analytical, leadership, and decision-making skills. Proficient with PC-based software applications, including Microsoft Office. Must maintain confidentiality and exhibit high ethical standards. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to resolve disputes with tact and professionalism. EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field is preferred. Additional training in gaming regulations or leadership development is a plus. Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in slot operations or casino floor management, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or shift management role. Proven ability to oversee slot floor operations during assigned shifts, ensuring compliance, guest service, and operational efficiency. Strong knowledge of slot systems, machine functionality, floor layout, and gaming regulations. Experience managing personnel, addressing guest concerns, and making real-time operational decisions. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills in a high-volume environment. Prior experience in a casino or tribal gaming operation is required.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have successfully completed a background check and obtained a gaming license issued by the Morongo Gaming Agency, as required.

Must be able to read and interpret documents in English, such as instructions, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Must also be able to communicate clearly and effectively with team members, management, and guests.

Communication Skills:
Must be able to communicate clearly, professionally, and authoritatively in person, by phone, and over radio with slot staff, security, surveillance, other departments, guests, and executive leadership; responsible for addressing escalated issues, giving direction, and ensuring smooth shift transitions and guest satisfaction.
Lifting and Carrying:
Occasionally lifts and carries operational paperwork, signage, slot-related components, or equipment weighing up to 30 pounds; may assist with minor slot adjustments or floor changes as needed.
Manual Dexterity:
Frequently uses hands and fingers to operate radios, complete shift documentation, use computers, and interact with slot management systems and floor tracking software.
Mobility:
Frequently walks, stands, and moves throughout the casino floor during entire shifts to monitor slot operations, interact with guests, supervise staff, and support floor coverage and machine oversight.
Stationary Work:
Occasionally remains seated during shift reporting, administrative follow-ups, or briefing sessions with team members or leadership.
Tool Operation:
Regular use of slot management systems, handheld communication devices, operational reporting platforms, and standard office equipment.
Visual Acuity:
Requires excellent near and far vision to assess floor activity, observe guest interactions, verify ID and jackpot documentation, review machine performance, and complete shift reports.
Working Conditions:
Routinely operates on a live casino floor; continuous exposure to flashing lights, loud noise, frequent guest interaction, and a smoking environment throughout the gaming property.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This is a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires the ability to adapt and perform under pressure. The casino operates with moderate to loud noise levels and is a smoking environment, requiring team members to work comfortably in these conditions.
WORKING HOURS
Morongo Casino Resort & Spa operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; therefore, flexibility in scheduling is essential. Team members must be available to work shifts that may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. Schedules are subject to change based on business needs and may include overtime, as well as work on both weekdays and weekends.
