Job Description

The Drop/Count Room - Clerk is responsible for accurately processing and counting currency from slot machines, table games, poker, and various revenue centers. This position plays a vital role in ensuring compliance with internal controls and gaming regulations while maintaining security, efficiency, and accuracy in all count operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains a comprehensive understanding of all applicable Gaming Commission laws, rules, regulations, and internal policies, procedures, and controls. Ensures accuracy and integrity in all count room operations and financial transactions. Opens table game drop boxes using designated keys, empties contents—including game openers and closers—onto the count table for sorting, bundling, and stacking of chips and currency. Opens and closes slot machine doors as needed; moves chairs to access drop areas and communicates respectfully with guests when necessary. Pushes, pulls, and loads heavy carts containing slot currency boxes in accordance with safety protocols. Accurately completes the Master Game Report and documents each game's win/loss data. Ensures all required paperwork is properly completed and submitted at the beginning and end of each shift. Counts and verifies currency collected from slot machine bill acceptor boxes, table game drop boxes, food & beverage banks, and poker tables. Handles and lifts chip and cash boxes as part of the daily count process. Works efficiently in a confined space as part of a close-knit team, maintaining focus and professionalism. Performs other job-related duties as assigned to support count room and casino operations.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but may provide guidance or support to other team members.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to stand for extended periods of time in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment. Skilled in quickly and accurately counting and sorting large volumes of currency and gaming chips. Strong mathematical aptitude and exceptional money-handling skills are required. Capable of safely lifting and maneuvering multiple metal drop boxes weighing up to 50 to 75 pounds. Demonstrates a high level of professionalism and a strong commitment to guest service and positive team member interactions. EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Additional coursework in accounting, business, or finance is a plus. Minimum of 1 year of experience in cash handling, auditing, or count room operations. Experience in a secured, high-volume cash processing environment preferred. Familiarity with basic accounting and reconciliation procedures. Ability to operate coin sorters, currency counters, and other count room equipment. Prior experience in a regulated environment such as gaming, banking, or secure cash facilities is a plus.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have successfully completed a background check and obtained a gaming license issued by the Morongo Gaming Agency, as required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must be able to read and interpret documents in English, such as instructions, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Must also be able to communicate clearly and effectively with team members, management, and guests.

Communication Skills:
Must be able to communicate clearly, professionally, and efficiently with team members, supervisors, surveillance, and auditing personnel; written and verbal communication is essential for accurate reporting and compliance.
Lifting and Carrying:
Frequently lifts, pushes, and carries drop boxes, currency bags, and coin containers weighing up to 50 pounds; may require the use of secure carts for transporting heavier loads.
Manual Dexterity:
Regularly uses hands to sort, count, and verify large volumes of currency and coin; operates counting machines, coin wrappers, locks, and computers with precision and speed.
Mobility:
Continuously walks, stands, bends, and reaches throughout the shift while retrieving drop boxes from gaming areas, transporting them to the count room, and conducting count procedures.
Stationary Work :
Frequently stands at count tables or machines for extended periods during count operations; occasional seated work for data entry, verification, or report completion.
Tool Operation:
Regular use of coin and bill counters, secure cash carts, locking mechanisms, radio devices, computer systems, and surveillance-monitored equipment.
Visual Acuity:
Requires strong near vision, attention to detail, and the ability to detect currency discrepancies or counterfeit items; must accurately read count sheets, vouchers, and transaction summaries.
Working Conditions:
Routinely works in high-security, closed environments under constant camera surveillance; exposed to repetitive machine noise, physically strenuous tasks, and a smoking environment in adjacent casino areas.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This is a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires the ability to adapt and perform under pressure. The casino operates with moderate to loud noise levels and is a smoking environment, requiring team members to work comfortably in these conditions.
WORKING HOURS
Morongo Casino Resort & Spa operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; therefore, flexibility in scheduling is essential. Team members must be available to work shifts that may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. Schedules are subject to change based on business needs and may include overtime, as well as work on both weekdays and weekends.
