Job Description

Reno/Tahoe Area Trainer:
Base Pay $21
  • 22hr based on experience +tips (range $5
  • 10hr!). As an Area Trainer-Reno/Tahoe Market, you are the driving force of education and development for the Coffeebar teams in your region. You will foster an atmosphere of learning for not only team members and guests, but yourself as well. You are your region's most curious learner and skillful teacher
  • eager to engage, foster conversation, and create 'ah-ha' moments at the ground level.
You will help our teams connected with our mission and core values by creating and leading training programs that will teach them all the skills needed to be kickass Coffeebar team members. You will report directly to the Area Manager, while collaborating with both the retail store and Roastery leadership teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Leading prescribed classes on various coffee-related topics including introduction to coffee and practical barista skills. Conducting Bar Basics classes as often as needed. Providing consistent in-service coaching to continuously improve performance in all areas related to coffee and hospitality
  • from communication with guests to retail coffee sales to barista skills.
The team should be measurably better, more inspired, and quality focused after every shift you are in store. Serve as a mentor for other Coffee Leads in your region, assisting them with guest engagement programs, internal coffee education, and communication with management teams. Guaranteeing product quality by teaching and enforcing Coffeebar standards. Actively self-developing and seeking further knowledge to improve your own coffee and training skills. Developing/driving guest engagement events and programs

Traveling between stores within your region to provide training and assisting managers and Coffee Leads in implementing training programs. This includes travel between Tahoe area store in winter/snow conditions. Maintaining a training calendar and communicating with Store Managers and your Area Manager around scheduling classes and check ins. Keeping a thorough record of coffee training taking place at each location in your region and communicating individual and team progress/status with store and area leaders. Driving key store service metrics, such as speed of service, drink quality, guest engagement, and cleanliness. Embodying Coffeebar's servant-hearted philosophy with a "whatever it takes" attitude and commitment to our team by going the extra mile to support stores, cover shifts, provide resources, etc. Be a leader while in stores regularly providing regular feedback and direction Be a self-starter Excellence in Practice As a Coffeebar Area Trainer, you will: Be the go-to resource in your region for all things coffee. Learn to cup and score coffees and develop strong coffee communication skills so you can effectively pass information along to your teams. Maintain frequent communication with the Roastery team to stay up to date on all coffee offerings. Have in-depth knowledge about all our coffees and both the food and beverage menu. Lead tastings for teams and guests in your region and find creative ways for them to engage with our coffees and their stories. Assist store leaders with disseminating information on new coffees and performing knowledge checks. Monitor quality of all coffee beverages when you're in store and take every opportunity to coach and inspire your teammates to meet Coffeebar quality standards. Lead by example by providing outstanding hospitality, producing excellent drink quality, and always working with a team-first attitude. Become an expert on Coffeebar's training curriculum and standards, including full mastery of essential barista skills. Act as an advocate for coffee knowledge and training within our stores and assist managers in finding ways to correctly schedule and implement coffee training. Be the primary instructor for coffee-related training classes and administer any relevant tests or knowledge checks. Communicate frequently with Store and Area Managers to ensure timely training and maintain adequate barista staffing levels. Be an active contributor to the coffee program by seeking out and sharing additional knowledge and contributing to open dialogue about coffee and training. Be a source of information, not just a recipient of it. Work in tandem with the Area Manager to ensure consistent training across all Coffeebar locations. Communication should be open and often, with regular check ins at least once per week. Collaborate on training content creation and program development. Partner with store, regional, and executive leadership teams on all large initiatives as needed, within or outside your core responsibilities. Own your leadership role as a Coffeebar Brand, Values, and Mission ambassador, and build healthy, inspiring culture everywhere you go. You are a consistent leader while in stores on the floor. You will be expected to give feedback regularly, coach employees to standards and processes and provide feedback and direction while on shift, help manage Orange book and general restocking duties while in a café, support guest interactions, and overall provide regular direction to a team. Previous leadership experience required. Whistle while you work.
Other Requirements:
Available to work flexible hours that may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, nights and/or holidays. This is a full-time, year-round position with an expected workload of 30-40 hours per week. Ability to commute to all store locations in the Reno/Tahoe market as assigned, including Downtown Truckee, Bakery-Truckee, Olympic Valley, Northstar, McCarran-Reno, Mt.

Rose-Reno, and Roastery-Reno. Safe and reliable transportation to drive to and from work and throughout the market in snow and ice conditions. Lead store operating policies and standards by example, including proper cash handling and store safety and security. Physical tasks, completed with or without accommodations, include: walking/standing, lifting/carrying up to 25 pounds, fine manipulation (I.e. cash handling), power grasping and/or push/pull up to 20 lbs (i.e. pulling shots), bending at waist/squatting, reaching forward/above shoulders, hand washing, and lifting/carrying up to 40 pounds, twisting (at neck or waist), climbing, and/or kneeling. Additionally, the work environment may contain nuisance dust (coffee grinds), intermittent noise, use of cleaning and sanitizing chemicals, and allergens (including, but not limited to nuts and dairy).
