As an explore Guide you will help our guests explore the many species if animals who live at the park. You will inspire our guest to make decisions in their own lives that promote the conservation of animal and habitats around the world! You will answer questuins, use a mircophone to eduate large numbers of guests at one time, ensure guests interact with the animals in a safe manner,and act as park ambassador answering all questions big and small.
Responsibilities:
Interact and engage with park guests about our animals, their care and conservation measures. Learn, interpret and present animal information to our guests both on and off the microphone. Serve as a safety ambassador for guests and animals at all exhibits while enforcing park polices. Communicate any hazards that pose a risk to the animals to manafement immediately. Maintain cleanliness of areas surrounding animal exhibits including but not limited to: sweeping, cleaning windows, and picking up debris. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Must be at least 16 years of age Must be comortable with public speaking Must not be afraid of animals (exhibit include Wolf, Big Cats, Sea Lions, Seals, Giraffe, Sharks, Stingrays, Butterflies.
Note:
barriers between Explore Gudies and animals are maintained at all times excluding Butterfly habitat) Proven ability for retaining information and the ability to utilize provided protocols under pressure. Must be able to maintain objectivity and remain composed when faced with oppising points of view. Must be available to work Fridays, weekends and holidays.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed primiarly outdoors in all weather conditions and indoor with high humidity. Lighting is both natural and artificial including dimly lit exhibits. Equipment used includes, radios, phones mircophones, cleaning tools. Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, kneeling and lifiting up to 10lbs.
