Italian Village Restaurants is hiring a Host to join our Front of House team at Sotto & Bar Sotto . First and foremost, Hosts are responsible for warmly greeting and welcoming our guests. As the first person guests interact with, you'll be the face of our restaurant and responsible for setting the tone for a guest's dining experience. Hosts are one of the most dynamic and important positions in the entire restaurant - beyond just greeting guests, they are responsible for seating guests at the right tables, answering ringing phones and guest questions, taking ownership over carryout orders, communicating special requests to servers and managers, and optimizing the reservation book for the shift. They work incredibly closely with our Front of House managers and fellow hosts to make the magic happen for our guests. You'll need to be quick on your feet, work well with others, and maintain a polite and friendly attitude under pressure. Duties & Responsibilities Greet guests with open arms and a smile Manage multiple guest requests and inquiries, simultaneously, with confidence, clarity, and speed Keep guest needs top of mind and attempt to predict needs before asked Communicate clearly, succinctly, and frequently to guests, managers, and other team members Complete sidework thoroughly and independently Manage the reservation book to ensure the timely availability of tables for reservations and to maximize the number of guests we can accommodate as walk-ins Manage guest waitlist, doing the best to quote accurate wait times and Lead guests to their table and assist them in getting seated Hand menus to guests Handle complaints, problems, or issues with a positive attitude and escalate to management as soon as needed Occasionally, issue bills and apply payments accurately (in both cash and credit transactions) Occasionally, set tables for service, with special attention to cleanliness and proper placement Follow our steps of service fully to ensure proper service to Italian Village standards Follow company policies as communicated and updated Make guests have a memorable and magical dining experience Qualifications (Required): Ability to get along with others - pleasant personality and neat, clean appearance At least 18 years of age and legally allowed to work in the United States Ability to follow verbal instructions well and accept constructive feedback on job performance Ability to communicate scheduling needs, equipment issues, and any other concerns with the Manager on Duty Willingness to work nights and weekends regularly Willingness to work flexible and irregular hours Ability to lift and carry up to ~30 pounds while moving across dining room, occasionally Ability to work standing on your feet for up to ~8 hours daily, occasionally Ability to perform tasks in a timely and efficient manner with a focus on quality Ability to perform more than one task at a time and prioritize Ability to move and work fast, but also be thoughtful and gentle as to not break, drop, or spill Ability to go up and down up to 3 flights of stairs as needed to perform tasks, occasionally Ability to reach up to 6 feet overhead (can use crate) or bend over and stoop to the ground while cleaning Ability to work in spaces with slick, often wet floors in a careful manner, occasionally Ability to work in a confined, crowded, fast-moving space with high noise and light levels Currently Available Shifts Night shifts, Weekends Benefits Employee discount (50% off on all food to-go) Flexible schedule Referral program Healthcare availability 401K availability Family owned and operated business with a strong commitment to personal and professional development, internal promotion, and the happiness of the whole team Our Restaurant Setting High-volume setting (400-600 covers daily) Fine, casual dining restaurant Our Values For each other… We make space for feedback, personal and professional growth, and trust We believe in the human dignity and goodness of each of our co-workers We remain a family and prioritize family For our guests… We make magic moments happen and bring traditions to life, every night We believe in building personal connection that goes above and beyond executing service We remain grateful and gracious For our community… We make contributions of time and resources We believe in a better world built from small, consistent action We remain engaged and invested over the long-term To preserve our legacy… We make careful and equitable decisions We believe in preserving the American Dream We remain committed to sharing our stories
