Job Description:

We are seeking a friendly, organized, and hospitality-driven Host / Hostess to join our Food & Beverage team at Doctor Sax House. As the first point of contact for many guests, this role is essential in setting the tone for a welcoming and memorable experience. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage guest flow while maintaining a warm and professional presence in both our café and lounge environments.

Responsibilities:

Greet guests promptly and warmly upon arrival, creating a welcoming first impression. Manage reservations and walk-in seating efficiently while maintaining awareness of table availability. Escort guests to their tables and provide menus, highlighting specials or events as appropriate. Communicate clearly with servers and kitchen staff to support smooth service flow. Monitor the dining room atmosphere and assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and inviting environment. Answer guest questions about menus, programming, and hotel offerings with confidence and professionalism. Assist with coordinating guest seating during musical performances, private events, and special programming. Support front-of-house team members as needed during service. Handle guest concerns courteously and escalate issues to management when appropriate. Adhere to all health, safety, and company policies. Provide feedback to management where there are opportunities to enhance the guest experience.

Qualifications:

Previous experience in a host, front-of-house, guest services, or hospitality role preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a warm, professional demeanor. Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced environment. Comfort managing reservations and coordinating guest flow during busy service periods. Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to support servers and other front-of-house staff. Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a polished guest environment. Ability to remain calm and solution-focused when addressing guest concerns. Familiarity with reservation systems (or willingness to learn) is a plus. Interest in hospitality, food & beverage service, and guest experience within a boutique hotel setting.
