This is a full-time position requiring weekend availability with 2nd shift hours. SUMMARY:
The Ruth's Chris Lead Host role is to generate further revenue and help control the floor throughout daily operations. This includes operating our reservation system, Open Table, anticipating opportunities to maximize our seating and constantly being aware of local events throughout downtown Grand Rapids.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Understand and operate Open Table to its fullest capacity. Participate in Open Table meetings, classes, and any learning opportunities to keep our team up to date and grow within the system. Manage and control the flow of the restaurant with accurate turn times, maximizing seating, and consistently looking forward to future reservations and opportunities. Discover additional revenue opportunities such as extending hours during holidays, changing floor plans when able, seeing patterns in "no shows" or "heavy seatings" Stay current with what's going on in Grand Rapids and surrounding areas to make sure we are capturing our target market and writing detailed Notes in Open Table and a weekly report to management with these current events. Look for ways to save money by reducing waste and controlling expenses. Train all hosts on Open Table and monitor the staff. Hold hosts and management accountable when making incorrect table assignments and reservations. Thorough understanding on how to write and read private dining contracts and event orders while working closely with the Private Dining Manager. Will fill in as Private Dining Manager when they are absent for a period of time Contains full knowledge of ringing in PDR events through Volante and all AV equipment Manage the cleanliness and organization of the host stand which includes making sure there are full and correct menus - will have capabilities to print more and maintain Functions fully as a host when it comes to opening, closing checklists, side work, guest service skills, menu knowledge, etc. Main contact for Ellis Parking, updating them with events and additional hours Responsible for posters and organization of kitchen walls and service alley walls
REQUIRED SKILLS
Takes pride in their appearance and reports to work in complete uniform, wearing the proper shoes and socks professionally dressed and neatly groomed Displays a positive courteous and polite attitude, works well with others Displays a sense of urgency and the ability to resolve guest concerns or department issues on their own Utilize time well and is productive throughout the entire shift while meeting department standards A voice in all staff meetings and pre-shifts. Follow the AHC safety standards of our hotel
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent; related experience and/or training Must have some restaurant experience TiPS certification preferred
