Job Description

Milkweed Creative + Breakfast Wine LLC is an independent restaurant group located in Kansas City, Missouri, that includes Earl's Premier + Provisions, Bacaro Primo and recently opened Sea Capitán Cocina Costera. We are hiring for a part-time HOST at both Earls Premier and Sea Capitán ​
Scope & General Purpose:
The Host is the first and last impression of the restaurant. This role sets the tone for the guest experience, managing the flow of service, welcoming guests with warmth and confidence, and ensuring every interaction reflects our standards of hospitality. This position requires strong awareness of the dining room, clear communication with the service team, and the ability to balance guest needs with operational flow.

Management Structure:
Reports to General Manager Core Responsibilities Guest Experience & Hospitality
  • Greet every guest with warmth, presence, and genuine enthusiasm
  • Create a welcoming and organized entry experience, setting the tone for service
  • Engage with guests naturally while managing wait times and expectations
  • Maintain awareness of special occasions, VIP guests, and regulars
  • Close out the guest experience with the same level of care as arrival Reservation & Guest Management
  • Support the host team in maintaining accurate table status and guest flow within Tock
  • Assist with seating support, table readiness, and communication around guest movement throughout service
  • Understand the basics of reservations, walk in management, and wait list flow
  • Maintain awareness of party status from arrival through reset to support accurate pacing
  • Have a general understanding of booking, rescheduling, and large party coordination
  • Recognize the difference between guest notes and visit notes to help support a personalized guest experience Dining Room Flow & Operations
  • Control the pace of seating to support service flow and kitchen timing
  • Communicate clearly with managers and service staff regarding table status and timing
  • Monitor the floor and adjust seating plans as needed throughout service
  • Maintain strong knowledge of table numbers, sections, and server rotations Standards & Environment
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and polished host stand and entry area
  • Uphold the overall aesthetic and energy of the restaurant from the moment guests arrive
  • Demonstrate composure and professionalism during high-volume service
  • Follow all company standards related to service, safety, and guest interaction
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in a host, maître d', or guest-facing role preferred
  • Strong communication skills with a natural ability to connect with people
  • High level of organization and attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and stay composed in a fast-paced environment
