reviews Summary The Host ensures the smooth running of the greeting process in Madison's and its outlets. This includes set-up for service, greeting guests, ensuring an effective seating process and great customer service. Responsibilities Ensure all tables are properly set prior to seating guests Maintain seating chart on the reservations system Ensure table revenue is maximized Greet and seat properly and issue menus according to company standard Answer phones and take reservations, always following the correct procedures Ensure room service ordering procedures are maintained and accurate Organize and maintain a clean, presentable greeting podium Ensure menus are clean and prepared before every shift Be familiar with the hotel facilities, hours of operation and outlet locations Have attention to detail to ensure the restaurant and host area look inviting for our guests Due to the nature of this position, confidentiality is always required Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned at the discretion of the Maître D' Basic knowledge of food and beverage operations recommended. The ability to work well with a large group of people in a team environment is required. Must be able to work well in stressful, high-pressure situations including the ability to handle guest complaints and disputes and resolve them to satisfactory results. Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure. Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, days, weekends, and holidays. Excellent communication and guest relation skills in English. Must be effective at listening to, understanding and clarifying concerns and issues raised by team members and guests. Must have ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. The employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to type, write, file, etc. The employee regularly required to stand, walk the property, climb stairs, and sit for periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty pounds Duties are performed in both indoor and outdoor settings, with events often taking place in the elements in all four seasons. Events often involve loud music.
