Job Description

The Host serves as the first point of contact for all guests entering The Morris. This role is responsible for creating a warm, professional, and welcoming first impression while managing reservations, guest flow, and seating assignments. The Host plays a critical role in maintaining the pace of service, supporting the dining room team, and ensuring every guest feels valued from arrival to departure. Essential ResponsibilitiesGuest Experience Greet every guest warmly and professionally upon arrival. Maintain a welcoming presence at the host stand and entrance. Escort guests to their tables and provide menus when applicable. Thank guests for dining with us as they depart. Assist with guest inquiries regarding reservations, menu offerings, and restaurant policies. Maintain a calm and professional demeanor during busy service periods. Reservations & Seating Manage reservations through Resy and maintain accurate guest information. Monitor reservation times, table status, and dining room flow. Coordinate with managers and service staff regarding table availability. Manage waitlists and communicate accurate wait times to guests. Strategically seat guests to ensure balanced service throughout the dining room. Note special occasions, VIP guests, and guest preferences when applicable. Dining Room Support Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host stand. Ensure menus are clean, organized, and presentable. Assist with resetting tables when needed. Support servers and management with guest needs. Monitor the entrance, waiting area, and dining room appearance throughout service. Communication Communicate effectively with managers, servers, bartenders, and support staff. Alert management to guest concerns, complaints, or special requests. Maintain awareness of restaurant capacity and service pacing. Qualifications Previous hospitality or customer service experience preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to remain organized and composed in a fast-paced environment. Professional appearance and positive attitude. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Experience with reservation systems such as Resy is a plus.
