Job Description

The Front Desk Associate at Hampton Inn is the first point of contact for guests and plays a pivotal role in creating a welcoming and positive experience from arrival to departure. This position is responsible for providing exceptional customer service, managing guest inquiries, handling reservations, and ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the front desk in accordance with Hampton Inn's brand standards and commitment to "Hamptonality."
Key Responsibilities:
Guest Services Excellence:
Warmly greet guests upon arrival, extending a sincere and personalized welcome. Efficiently and accurately complete guest check-in and check-out procedures, including verifying reservations, collecting payments (cash and credit cards), and issuing room keys. Anticipate guest needs and proactively offer assistance to enhance their stay. Provide accurate information about hotel amenities, services, local attractions, dining, and transportation options. Handle guest requests promptly and courteously, ensuring resolution to their satisfaction. Actively listen to guest feedback, resolve complaints immediately, and take ownership of situations to ensure a pleasant experience. Maintain confidentiality and ensure the privacy of guest information at all times.
Reservations and Administration:
Process and manage reservations, including making, modifying, and canceling bookings. Understand room availability, room types, and rates, and utilize suggestive selling techniques to optimize occupancy and revenue. Coordinate room status updates with the housekeeping department for accurate room assignments. Maintain a clean, organized, and presentable front desk and lobby area. Answer incoming phone calls with professional and courteous etiquette, directing inquiries to the appropriate department or staff member. Handle guest mail, messages, and packages according to established procedures. Perform cashiering tasks, including posting charges to guest accounts, processing payments, and balancing the cash drawer accurately at the beginning and end of each shift.
Operational Support:
Possess a thorough knowledge of all hotel safety and emergency procedures. Monitor and maintain the security of guest information and belongings. Communicate effectively with incoming staff and management by logging pertinent information in the pass-on log. Keep maintenance informed of any repair needs or unusual occurrences. Occasionally assist other departments as needed to ensure overall guest satisfaction. Adhere to all company and Hampton Inn brand standards and policies. Complete all required brand and company training in a timely manner.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required. Previous experience in customer service, preferably in the hospitality field. Proficiency in computer systems, including Property Management Systems (PMS) and basic office applications (e.g., Microsoft Office). Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills with a friendly, energetic, and professional demeanor. Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. Exceptional problem-solving and conflict resolution skills. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Ability to handle cash and credit card transactions accurately. Flexibility to work various shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Ability to stand or walk for extended periods and perform physical demands such as bending, lifting (up to 20 pounds), and squatting. A strong commitment to teamwork and providing exceptional guest satisfaction.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with hotel operations systems specific to Hilton/Hampton Inn. Knowledge of the local area, including attractions, restaurants, and events.
