Job Description

The Whaler's Inn is the premier hotel in downtown Mystic, offering sweeping views of the Mystic River and Drawbridge. The Inn is within walking distance of everything downtown Mystic has to offer. We are looking for an experienced person to join our team as a Guest Service Agent to serve as our guests' first point of contact and manage all aspects of their accommodation. Hotel Guest Service Agent responsibilities include registering guests, managing reservations, and providing information about rooms, rates, and amenities. If you have a knack for customer service and work experience in the hotel industry, we'd like to meet you. Ultimately, you will help create a pleasant and memorable stay for our guests. Schedules may vary depending on operational needs.
Summary:
Responsible for making guest reservations and checking guests in and out by performing the following duties. Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Processes guest reservations over the Internet, email, and phone.
  • Checks guests in and out.
  • Makes dinner and attractions recommendations.
  • Sells attraction tickets and makes dinner reservations.
  • Ensures lobby, office, and retail area are clean and organized.
  • Inventories sundries, retail items, and office supplies monthly.
  • Handles customer complaints and resolves as needed.
  • Assists guests with transporting luggage to their guestrooms in our 6 buildings on the property.
Assist guests with finding parking spots in our complimentary guest parking lot. Skills Work experience as a Hotel Front Desk Agent, Receptionist or similar role Experience with hotel reservations software Understanding of how travel planning websites operate, like Booking and TripAdvisor Customer service attitude Excellent communication and organizational skills
Qualifications:

Language Ability:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Mac Computers, and Reservations Software.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); No prior experience required.
