As the first point of contact, this role is responsible for providing exceptional customer service, assisting with ticket sales and reservations, and sharing information about our productions, programs, and mission. This position plays an important role in advancing the theater's commitment to community engagement, accessibility, and the arts. The Box Office Associate also contributes to a safe and inclusive environment through conflict management, emergency response, and loss prevention efforts. This role offers opportunities for professional growth and advancement within the organization for individuals who demonstrate initiative, leadership, and a passion for the performing arts. Key ResponsibilitiesGuest Experience & Hospitality Greet patrons warmly and create a positive, inclusive, and welcoming atmosphere Serve as a knowledgeable representative of the theater's mission, productions, and community programs Provide accurate information about performances, seating, accessibility options, and policies Foster meaningful connections with patrons to encourage ongoing engagement and support Ticketing & Patron Services Sell tickets and manage reservations using the theater's ticketing system Assist guests in selecting performances, seating, and membership options Coordinate will-call, group sales, subscriptions, and special requests Maintain accurate patron records and other guest information Communications & Phone Support Operate phone systems to assist patrons with ticket purchases and inquiries Respond to email and other communication channels in a timely and professional manner Coordinate and execute marquee changes Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless communication and guest satisfaction Cash Handling & Financial Stewardship Process cash, credit, and digital transactions accurately and securely Balance cash drawers and reconcile transactions according to established procedures Uphold financial integrity and accountability in alignment with non-profit best practices Conflict Management, Safety & Security Address patron concerns or complaints with professionalism, empathy, and discretion De-escalate conflicts and support a respectful environment for all guests and staff Contribute to loss prevention and safeguarding of organizational assets Qualifications Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on hospitality Passion for the performing arts and interest in supporting a non-profit mission Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment Comfort handling financial transactions with accuracy and attention to detail Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations Previous experience in customer service, theater operations, or hospitality is preferred Work Environment Front-of-house role with frequent guest interaction and extended periods of standing Schedule may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and performance times Collaborative, mission-driven environment focused on community and the arts Regular training and staff meeting attendance Growth & Advancement Opportunities This role offers opportunities for expanded responsibilities and career development within the theater.
