POSITION TITLE
Front Desk AssociatePOSITION SUMMARY
A Guest Service Representative is responsible for all guest interaction at the front desk including guest registration, departure processing, and communication of hotel services. Extremely customer focused, this role creates opportunity for an engaging, outgoing personality to shine and create a positive guest experience. Other duties may include processing forms of payment and responding to guest inquires. This position will be responsible for following all procedures and duties set by management, which may include tasks outside of standard front desk operations. You are responsible for creating a positive guest experience to the standards set forth by showing a high level of ownership and responsibility.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Front Desk Associate:
Role Requirements & Qualifications1. Core Responsibilities The Front Desk Associate is the face of the property. Their primary duty is to provide a welcoming, efficient, and professional guest experience from check-in to check-out.Guest Relations:
Welcome guests, handle registration (check-ins/check-outs), issue room keys, and provide clear information about hotel policies, amenities, and local areas.Reservation Management:
Process reservations, cancellations, walk-ins, and room assignments accurately.Financial Transactions:
Handle cash, credit card processing, posting charges to guest folios, and balancing the shift drawer.Problem Resolution:
Address guest complaints, service requests, or room issues promptly and professionally, escalating to management when necessary.Communication Hub:
Answer incoming phone calls, route messages, and maintain seamless communication with Housekeeping and Maintenance teams regarding room status. 2. Required Skills & Qualifications A successful candidate needs a blend of strong interpersonal skills and technical competency.Customer Service Excellence:
A warm, professional demeanor with a proven ability to handle stressful situations with patience and diplomacy.Communication:
Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with guests, team members, and management.Technical Proficiency:
Comfortable learning and using a Property Management System (PMS) . Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, email, and multi-line phone systems).Problem-Solving:
Ability to think on their feet and resolve minor guest issues or scheduling conflicts independently.Mathematical Skills:
Basic math proficiency for handling currency, calculating rates, and balancing daily audits. 3. Physical & Scheduling Requirements Hospitality roles demand flexibility and physical stamina.Flexibility:
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.Stamina:
Capacity to stand for extended periods (typically an 8-hour shift) and occasionally lift up to 25-30 lbs (e.g., handling guest luggage or receiving small deliveries).Education:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. 4. Preferred Qualifications (Bonus Traits)Experience:
1+ years of previous experience in hotel front desk operations or a high-volume customer service environment.System Knowledge:
Prior familiarity with brand-specific property management software.Local Knowledge:
Familiarity with the local area, dining options, and attractions to assist out-of-town guests. Skills Work experience as a Hotel Front Desk Agent, Receptionist or similar role Experience with hotel reservations software Understanding of how travel planning websites operate, like Booking and Expedia Customer service attitude Excellent communication and organizational skills Degree in hotel management is a plusJob Types:
