This individual represents the hotel to the guest throughout all stages of their stay and is responsible for the quality of the service provided. Responsibilities Assists in preregistration and blocking of rooms for reservations Fully understands and implements proper credit, check- cashing, and cash handling policies and procedures Knows room locations, types of rooms available, and room rates as well as the activities and services of the property Registers guests, assigns rooms and accommodates special requests whenever possible Presents options and alternatives to guests and offers assistance in making choices Uses appropriate selling techniques to achieve sales goals Coordinates room status updates with the housekeeping department by notifying housekeeping of all check-outs, late checkouts, early check-ins, and special requests Processes future reservations, same day reservations when necessary and fully understands and adheres to cancellation procedures Processes guest check-outs Performing cashier related functions including billing/invoice settlements, posting charges to guest accounts, raising paid out's, etc. Works closely with the housekeeping department in the keeping room status reports up to date and coordinates requests for maintenance and repair work. Uses proper mail, package, and message handling procedures, and proper telephone etiquette Reads and initials the pass-on log and bulletin board daily Reports any unusual occurrences or requests to the manager Maintains the cleanliness and neatness of the front desk area and front office equipment Requirements Strong and successful background in customer service Kind, honest, and reliable Understanding of office management systems and procedures (MS Office, POS systems, EPC, OTAs) Basic computer and office skills such as faxing, scanning, and email Must be sales-minded and self-motivated Thorough with excellent time management skills Organized and able to take initiative Qualifications High school graduate or equivalent required 2 or more years experience in a hotel environment preferred Fluency in a second language is an advantage' ' COVID-19 Precaution(s): Personal protective equipment provided or required Social distancing guidelines in place Sanitizing, disinfecting, or cleaning procedures in place
