Card Room Shift Manager Summary Under the direct supervision of the Card Room Shift Manager, ensures excellent customer service and supervises card room personnel working in their respective areas, while preserving the integrity of the games. Supervisory Responsibilities Manages the Poker Floor Person, Tournament Floorperson, Poker Host, Poker Dealer, Chip Runner and Board Person on a given shift in the Card Room. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Connect ECMs to relevant mentors, subject matter experts, and specific Pathways to Success programs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Understands and follows the Card Room Internal Controls and Policies and Procedures.
Supervises dealers, board persons, and all other card room personnel to ensure proper performance of duties.
Assumes all responsibilities of all card room personnel, including, but not limited to, board, running chips, and dealing all games when necessary (i.e., covering for employee breaks and emergency situations).Keeps all card room equipment and supplies inventory accurate and up to date.
Maintains visual presence on card room floor as much as possible.
Renders impartial decisions using all available means, i.e., dealer information, player information, and surveillance tapes.
Informs the Card Room Shift Manager when a customer is dissatisfied with a decision and briefs Manager on Duty on duty about all problems and situations.
Continually observes games in progress for possible irregularities in player conduct.
Maintains current knowledge of all barred persons.
Maintains awareness of special events and promotions and communicates this information to employees and patrons.
Meets new customers and greets returning players. Makes every effort to get players included in games, suggesting alternative games if first choice is not available and places customer's initials on board.
Starts new games and provides dealers when needed.
Instructs dealers in placement of correct number of chairs around table, including dealer chair; ensures tables are clean and supplied with service trays.
Locks up seats for players that are on a waiting list.
Ensures that all gaming equipment is returned to a safe and secure area.
Reassigns dealers.
Informs the Card Room Shift Manager and the Manager on Duty (in the absence of the Card Room Shift Manager) of any deviation from standard dealing procedures.
Relays any information regarding daily business to incoming Shift Manager at shift change.
Continually reviews all existing dealers by use of tapes and personal observation to increase skill level.
Writes correction notices when needed noting infraction time, date, table numbers, etc.; completes paperwork and delivers to Card Room Shift Manager for approval.
Follows up on correction notices by properly retraining dealers to eliminate similar errors.
In the absence of the Card Room Shift Manager, is the final authority in all Card Room disputes.
Renders impartial decisions.
Communicates with card room personnel daily to be aware of situations, customers, problems, and improvements.
Posts and reports jackpots at proper time.
Ensures the validity of jackpots by use of tape surveillance, word of mouth, dealers input and Floor Person's supervision of game; verifies and records all patron identification on forms when awarding a jackpot.
Distributes comps to qualified players.
Notifies Security and Manager on Duty of problems that arise in the Card Room.
Conducts employee counseling and evaluations when necessary for either good or unacceptable behavior; reports such conduct to Card Room Shift Manager.
Discusses schedules of employees with Card Room Shift Manager to ensure proper coverage.
Responsible for the enforcement of all applicable regulations, under the code of Federal Regulations, Title 31, Chapter X, as it pertains to this position. This includes, but is not limited to, observing and reporting suspicious activity, of either customers or employees, as defined in the Code of Federal Regulations.
Responsible for maintaining up-to-date knowledge of all applicable regulations under the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 31, Chapter X, by attending Title 31/Anti-Money Laundering training, provided by Casino Arizona, at least once a year or more if required by management and outlined in the Title 31 Minimum Internal Controls. Education and/or Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; 2 to 3 years floor and/or 3-5 years of dealing experience is required. 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a gaming and/or hospitality environment is preferred. Other Qualifications Extensive knowledge of all Class II card games. Dealing and training experience in all varieties of Stud, Hold'em and Omaha preferred. Must be able to work flexible shifts. Exceptional written & verbal communication skills. Language Skills Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to secondary smoke. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
