Asset Manager Job Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic, experienced, and customer-focused General Manager to oversee the daily operations of the Element Fargo in West Fargo, ND. This is an on-property role, and the ideal candidate will have a strong leadership background, exceptional operational skills, and a passion for providing an outstanding guest experience while fostering a positive and supportive environment for hotel staff. As the General Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the hotel, achieving financial targets, and maintaining high standards of service, cleanliness, and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
1.
Leadership, Team Management, and Employee Engagement:
Lead, coach, and mentor a diverse team, including front desk agents, housekeeping, maintenance staff, and other hotel employees, fostering a positive and supportive work environment. Encourage open communication, transparency, and collaboration, ensuring high levels of employee satisfaction and team engagement. Promote professional development, recognition, and work-life balance while motivating staff to meet performance standards. Conduct regular staff meetings to communicate hotel goals, policies, and customer service expectations. Conduct performance reviews, offering guidance and support for team members' growth and ensuring operational efficiency. 2.
Maintenance and Safety:
Oversee the maintenance of hotel property, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and compliance with health and safety standards. Ensure all equipment is functioning properly and take immediate action to address repairs. Implement and monitor safety procedures to ensure the well-being of both guests and staff. 3.
Compliance and Standards:
Ensure the hotel complies with all Marriott brand standards, local regulations, and laws. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and standards to ensure the hotel remains competitive. Regularly perform quality inspections to ensure all areas of the hotel meet the highest standards of cleanliness, maintenance, and hospitality. 4.
Sales and Marketing:
Develop and implement strategies to increase occupancy, revenue, and market share for the hotel. Work with the sales team to attract corporate clients, long-term guests, and group bookings. Ensure marketing efforts are consistent with the brand and increase visibility in the local community. 5.
Guest Experience Management:
Ensure that every guest has a positive, comfortable experience from check-in to check-out. Address guest concerns, complaints, and special requests promptly and professionally. Oversee the implementation of Marriott's service standards and ensure consistent delivery of exceptional hospitality. Maintain a strong presence in the hotel, interacting with guests to gather feedback, resolve issues, and ensure guest satisfaction. 6.
Reporting and Administration:
Prepare and present detailed reports on the hotel's performance, including financials, guest satisfaction, and operational metrics. Manage hotel inventory, ordering, and supply control. Oversee payroll and staffing schedules to meet operational needs while managing labor costs. 7.
Financial and Operational Management:
Develop and manage the hotel's annual budget, aiming for profitability and cost efficiency. Control operating costs, including labor, supplies, and amenities, while maintaining service quality. Analyze financial performance and provide regular reports to the Asset Manager.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in hotel management, with a background in extended stay or Marriott brand operations preferred.
Skills:
Strong leadership and communication skills. Excellent problem-solving abilities and conflict resolution skills. Proficient in hotel management software and Microsoft Office Suite. Financial acumen with the ability to analyze and manage budgets and financial performance. In-depth knowledge of hospitality industry standards and best practices. Ability to adapt to changing business needs, market conditions, and guest expectations, while maintaining a high standard of service and operational efficiency.
Certifications:
Marriott-specific certifications (e.g., Marriott GM training) are a plus.
Working Conditions:
The General Manager must be physically present at the hotel to ensure optimal operations and guest service. Full-time position, including weekends and holidays as required. Occasional travel for training and company meetings may be necessary. Must be able to lift and carry items up to 25 lbs.
