This is not a traditional host position. The Maître d' is responsible for creating exceptional first and last impressions, managing reservations and seating flow, cultivating relationships with our most valued guests, and ensuring every guest feels recognized, welcomed, and cared for throughout their experience. The ideal candidate possesses the poise of a luxury hotel concierge, the leadership presence of a dining room manager, and a genuine passion for hospitality. Key Responsibilities Guest Experience Leadership Serve as the primary ambassador of hospitality for all arriving and departing guests Deliver warm, personalized welcomes while maintaining luxury service standards Recognize VIP guests, regular guests, and special occasion celebrations Anticipate guest needs and proactively create memorable experiences Manage guest concerns with professionalism, urgency, and grace Build meaningful relationships with frequent guests and community leaders Reservation & Seating Management Oversee all reservation activity through OpenTable Optimize seating flow while protecting service standards Manage waitlists and reservation modifications Coordinate special requests and guest preferences Balance dining room pacing to maximize guest satisfaction and operational efficiency Collaborate with managers to ensure proper table utilization VIP & Special Occasion Management Maintain guest profiles and preferences Coordinate birthday, anniversary, proposal, and celebration experiences Assist with Wine Room, Veuve Lounge, and premium seating reservations Execute guest recovery initiatives and service enhancements Identify opportunities to elevate the guest experience Dining Room Leadership Partner with management to maintain service standards throughout the restaurant Conduct regular dining room walkthroughs Support service teams during peak periods Maintain exceptional appearance standards at the host stand and guest reception areas Communicate effectively with managers, chefs, and service staff Revenue & Relationship Development Support sales of premium dining experiences Encourage repeat visitation through personalized hospitality Assist with private dining and special event inquiries Build long-term relationships with key guests and local influencers Contribute to guest retention initiatives and loyalty-building programs Qualifications Required Minimum 3 years of experience in fine dining, luxury hospitality, or upscale restaurant operations Experience with OpenTable or similar reservation management platforms Strong communication and interpersonal skills Professional appearance and demeanor Ability to remain calm and composed in high-volume environments Evening, weekend, and holiday availability Preferred Experience as a Maître d', Guest Relations Manager, Lead Host, Concierge, or Dining Room Manager Luxury hotel, country club, or Michelin-recognized restaurant experience Knowledge of wine and fine dining service Established understanding of luxury guest expectations The Ideal Candidate You are someone who: Remembers names and faces Anticipates needs before guests ask Thrives in fast-paced environments Handles difficult situations with confidence and diplomacy Takes pride in creating memorable experiences Understands that hospitality is a profession, not simply a job Leads through presence, professionalism, and positivity Compensation & Benefits Compensation $30-$35 per hour, based on experience or Salaried management package available for exceptional candidates Benefits Competitive compensation Paid Time Off Dining discounts Access to the building's fitness center Professional development and advancement opportunities Employee recognition and incentive programs Opportunity to work in one of Alexandria's premier waterfront dining destinations Performance Bonus Opportunities A maître d' can directly impact: Google reviews OpenTable ratings Guest retention VIP guest development Private dining leads Success in This Role Within your first 90 days, you will: Master OpenTable and reservation operations Develop relationships with our regular guests Improve guest recognition and personalization efforts Contribute to increased guest satisfaction scores and online reviews Become a trusted hospitality leader within the organization Join Our Team If you believe hospitality is an art form and take pride in creating unforgettable guest experiences, we invite you to apply.
