General Manager —
Boutique Mountain Hotel Location:
Killington, Vermont Job Type:
Full-Time Compensation:
Competitive salary based on experience, with performance-based growth opportunity About the Opportunity An established hotel property in the Killington market is entering an exciting new chapter. We are looking for a driven, hands-on, high-character General Manager who has the leadership, vision, and operational discipline to help take this hotel to the next level. This is not a "keep things the same" position. This is an opportunity for someone who wants to be part of a transformation — improving the guest experience, building a stronger team culture, navigating renovations and upgrades, and helping position the property among the top hotels in the Killington market. The right person will be motivated by challenge, energized by change, and excited by the opportunity to help build something special. What We Are Looking For We are seeking a General Manager who can lead from the front. This person must be able to manage daily hotel operations while also thinking bigger: improving systems, raising standards, developing staff, increasing revenue, and creating a guest-first culture. The ideal candidate is organized, accountable, positive, and proactive. They do not wait for problems to become obvious — they walk the property, identify issues, coach the team, communicate clearly, and take ownership of results. This role is best suited for someone who wants to grow with a hotel that is improving, remodeling, and working toward becoming one of the best lodging options in the Killington area. Key Responsibilities Lead daily hotel operations across front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, guest services, and food/beverage areas as applicable. Build and maintain a strong team culture based on accountability, communication, urgency, and pride. Create a guest-first environment that consistently improves guest satisfaction and online reviews. Manage labor, expenses, and overall property performance. Walk the property daily to identify maintenance issues, cleanliness concerns, safety items, and guest experience improvements. Oversee staff scheduling, training, coaching, discipline, and performance expectations. Work closely with ownership during remodeling, upgrades, operational changes, and brand improvements. Help create and implement systems, checklists, SOPs, and reporting processes. Respond professionally to guest concerns, staff issues, emergencies, and operational challenges. Take ownership of the hotel's performance and help move the property toward the top of the Killington market. The Ideal Candidate Has hotel, resort, hospitality, or strong operations management experience. Is a confident communicator who can lead a team with clarity and professionalism. Is comfortable with change, renovation, growth, and a fast-moving environment. Has strong attention to detail and high standards for cleanliness, maintenance, and guest service. Understands that small details create a big guest experience. Can balance daily operations with long-term improvement. Is financially aware and understands the importance of revenue, labor control, expenses, and profitability. Is hands-on and willing to step in wherever needed. Has a positive attitude and does not make excuses. Wants to be part of building something better. Qualifications Previous hotel management or hospitality leadership experience. Experience managing teams and holding employees accountable. Strong guest service and problem-solving skills. Ability to work weekends, holidays, and peak travel periods as needed. Comfortable using hotel property management software and basic reporting tools. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities. Knowledge of the Killington, mountain resort, ski, or tourism market is a plus but not required. Why This Role Is Different This is a rare opportunity to help lead the transformation of a hotel in one of Vermont's strongest hospitality markets. The property has significant upside, and ownership is committed to improving the building, the guest experience, the team, and the overall market position. We are looking for a leader who sees potential, not problems. Someone who wants to look back in a few years and say, "I helped build that." How to Apply Please submit your resume and a brief note explaining why this opportunity interests you and why you believe you are the right person to help take a hotel to the next level. All inquiries will be kept confidential.
