Job Description
The Housekeeping/Guest Room Supervisor is responsible for the overall cleanliness of the hotel including rooms and public areas. Major responsibilities include ensuring guests are satisfied with hotel cleanliness; responding to guests' needs; ensuring safety and security of rooms; maintaining inventory and cost controls; selecting, training, maintaining and managing a motivated and skilled workforce. Establishes a friendly atmosphere of superior guest service and product quality and provides exemplary performance for staff to follow. The Housekeeping/Guest Room Supervisor oversees multiple positions, including: Assistant Guest Room Supervisors, Room Inspectors, Guest Room Attendants, Laundry Attendants and the Facilities Attendant.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
ð Maintains hotel brand and Dunn Hospitality Group cleanliness standards for both guest rooms and public areas and inspects them to ensure that standards are met. ð Trains staff in all aspects of housekeeping including guest service. ð Administers guest satisfaction inspection procedures and reports. ð Maintains key control and lost-and-found and ensures staff is trained to follow correct procedures for both. ð Plans work schedules and room assignments with minimum disruption to guests.OTHER FUNCTIONS
ð Maintains guest service as the driving philosophy of the hotel. ð Personally demonstrates a commitment to guest service by responding promptly to guests' needs with an interest and concern in satisfying every guest. ð Develops added-value customer service programs regarding housekeeping services. ð Can communicate to guests about hotel promotions, local attractions and points of interest. ð Empowers hotel staff to deliver great guest service by encouraging responsiveness to guests' needs. ð Meets or exceeds hotel guest satisfaction measures. ð Ensures hotel standards and services contribute to the delivery of consistent guest service.SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS
ð Manages human resources functions including recruiting, selecting, orientation, training, performance planning and evaluating and pay/reward programs to maintain a skilled, a qualified workforce. ð Maintains a positive, cooperative work environment between staff and management. ð Emphasizes training and development as a way of doing business to empower employees to provide excellent guest service. ð Administers personnel policies fairly and consistently. ð Resolves associate grievances in a fair and timely way. ð Ensures housekeepers know responsibilities and manage against those responsibilities. ð Ensures associates know policies, pay procedures, bonus plans and benefits. ð Helps to develop management talent by acting as a mentor for direct reports. ð Uses ongoing safety training to minimize worker's compensation claims. ð Monitors and maintains acceptable turnover levels. ð Assists in annual budget preparation. ð Anticipates revenue/cost problems in department. ð Tracks financial and operating information on ongoing basis to adjust plans, labor and other costs. ð Produces accurate financial reports on time. ð Orders and buys cleaning supplies, linens and chemicals at the best prices. ð Maintains inventory of supplies and ensures staff follows proper inventory/cost control procedures. ð Maintains physical product standards by managing preventive maintenance programs and by scheduling ongoing cleaning activities. ð Ensures staff and associate involvement in preventive programs. ð Justifies capital projects for inclusion in the capital budget. ð Protects the interest of the hotel during capital projects. ð Understands and implements laws which apply to housekeeping supplies and chemicals. ð Recognizes and corrects conditions which may create security, fire or accident hazards. ð Understands and implements hotel's key control system.QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

ð High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one (1) to three (3) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.LANGUAGE SKILLS
ð Good ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. ð Good ability to write routine reports and correspondence. ð Good ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.REASONING ABILITY
ð Good ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. ð Good ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
ð Good ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with tens and hundreds. ð Good ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.TECHNICAL/COMPUTER SKILLS
ð Basic computer skills. ð Ability to learn to use a computer property management system, if necessary. OTHER SKILLS andABILITIES
