Job Description

This position is located within the Environmental Management Service at the Northern Arizona VA Healthcare System, Prescott, AZ. This position is directly responsible for the supervision of Environmental Service Technicians and carrying out duties involving custodial, janitorial, housekeeping and sanitation activities to ensure a safe and healthy environment for the treatment and care of our Veterans.

A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards .

Note :
A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
The work performed requires some light to heavy work such as cleaning halls, patient areas, corridors, etc. using hand and/or power driven tools. Subject to continuous sitting, standing, walking and frequent stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling and bending. The work requires the occasional use of heavy powered cleaning equipment (e.g. wall washers, industrial type buffers, etc.) weighing over 50 pounds. The duties necessitate considerable dexterity, hand, foot and eye coordination, and concentration as well as visual acuity to see dirt, dust and debris. Work is normally performed indoors with adequate heat, light and ventilation and may be exposed to vibration from heavy equipment and skin irritants from strong cleaning solutions. Some work may be performed outdoors where there may be exposure to varying degrees of heat and cold, as well as inclement weather. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required in some circumstances as exposure to possible contagious diseases or blood and bloody secretion are inherent to this position.
